Jerry Meter
Jerry Meter (born c. 1957) is a former American football player and coach. Meter's father, Bernard Meter, played football for Notre Dame in the 1940s. Jerry Meter attended Bloomfield Hills Andover High School where, at 6 foot, 4 inches, he was selected as a first-team end on the ''Detroit Free Press'' All Metro Team in 1974. He enrolled at the University of Michigan and played linebacker for Bo Schembechler from 1976 to 1978. In 1977, he received the Frederick Matthaei Award leadership, drive and achievement on the athletic field and in the classroom. He was also selected as the co-captain of the 1978 Michigan Wolverines football team. He was also selected by both the Associated Press and the United Press International as a second-team defensive end on the 1978 All-Big Ten Conference football team. 1979 Rose Bowl
The 1979 Rose Bowl was a college football bowl game played in Pasadena, California, on January 1, 1979. It was the 65th Rose Bowl Game. The USC Trojans, champions of the Pacific-10 Conference, defeated the Michigan Wolverines, (co) champions of the Big Ten Conference, Charles White and Michigan quarterback Rick Leach were named the Players of the Game. Teams Michigan Michigan came into the game ranked fifth in both major polls with a 10–1 record, with their only loss to Michigan State. The Wolverines tied for the Big Ten title with Michigan State, and earned the Rose Bowl berth because the Spartans were on probation. Bloomfield Hills, Michigan
Bloomfield Hills is a small city (5.04 sq. miles) in Oakland County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is a northern suburb of Metro Detroit and is approximately northwest of Downtown Detroit. Except a small southern border with the city of Birmingham, the city is almost completely surrounded by Bloomfield Township, but the city and township are administered separately. As of the 2020 census, the city's population was 4,460. History On June 28, 1820, Oakland County was divided into two townships: Pontiac Township and Bloomfield Township, the latter covering the southern part of the county that would include West Bloomfield Township, Royal Oak and Southfield. Charles White (American Football)
Charles Raymond White (born January 22, 1958) is a former professional American football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons during the 1980s. He played college football for the University of Southern California, where he was an All-American and the winner of the Heisman Trophy. A first-round pick (27th overall) in the 1980 NFL Draft, he played professionally for the Cleveland Browns and the Los Angeles Rams of the NFL. Early life White was born in Los Angeles, California. The 1979 USC Trojans football team represented the University of Southern California (USC) in the 1979 NCAA Division I-A football season. In their fourth year under head coach John Robinson, the Trojans compiled an 11–0–1 record (6–0–1 against conference opponents), won the Pacific-10 Conference (Pac-10) championship, and outscored their opponents by a combined total of 389 to 171.
