Jerry Fontenot
Jerry Paul Fontenot (born November 21, 1966) is an American football coach and former Center (American football), center who played in the National Football League (NFL) for the Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints and Cincinnati Bengals. He was drafted by the Bears in the third round of the 1989 NFL Draft. He attended Texas A&M University. Fontenot served as an assistant offensive line coach and tight ends coach for the Green Bay Packers from 2006 to 2015. On January 19, 2016, Fontenot was fired. In 2019, he became offensive line coach for the Los Angeles Wildcats (XFL), Los Angeles Wildcats of the XFL (2020), XFL. Center or Centre (C) is a position in gridiron football. The center is the innermost lineman of the offensive line on a football team's offense. The center is also the player who passes (or "snaps") the ball between his legs to the quarterback at the start of each play. The importance of centers for a football team has increased, due to the re-emergence of 3–4 defenses. According to Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, "you need to have somebody who can neutralize that nose tackle. If you don't, everything can get screwed up. The XFL is a professional American football minor league consisting of eight teams located across the United States in mid-sized to major markets served by at least one other major professional sports team.
