Jerrold Fisher
Jerrold Fisher is an American composer, conductor, singer, arranger and musician. In 1970, he was Acting Music Director and Conductor of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Conductor of the Haddonfield Symphony Orchestra (New Jersey) for seven seasons. Fisher has received numerous awards, including grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, The New York State Council on the Arts, and the Martha Baird Rockefeller Fund for Music/The American Music Center. Jerrold has appeared on stage in many roles, including Rodolpho in Verdi's ''La Traviata'', the title role in Offenbach's '' Tales of Hoffmann'', and El Gallo in ''The Fantasticks''. Fisher conducted the Shawnee Press recording choir in the mid 1970s which became the foundation of the Pocono Choral Society. He was the founding and only music director of the Choral Society based in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania from 1981 to 2010, when it disbanded. Syracuse Symphony Orchestra
The Syracuse Symphony Orchestra (SSO) was a 79-member orchestra located in Syracuse, New York. In its time it was the 43rd largest orchestra in the United States and performed a variety of programs including the Post-Standard Classics Series and M&T Bank Pops Series. The orchestra also operated two youth orchestras in the Syracuse area: the Syracuse Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Syracuse Symphony Youth String Orchestra. History It was founded in 1961 as a community orchestra by a grant from the Gifford Foundation. Its first Music Director was Karl Kritz, assisted by Benson Snyder and Carolyn Hopkins. Lawrence Leritz (born September 26, 1962) is an American actor, dancer, singer, producer, director, fitness expert and choreographer. Life and career Born in Alton, Illinois, Leritz made his stage debut in the children's chorus of the world stage premiere of Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical ''State Fair'' at The Muny, starring Ozzie and Harriet Nelson, directed by James Hammerstein, supervised by Richard Rodgers, conducted by Anton Coppola and choreographed by Tommy Tune. Leritz moved to New York City on scholarships to the Harkness Ballet, Joffrey Ballet and School of American Ballet, studying with Alexandra Danilova, Stanley Williams and the Bolshoi's Māris Liepa. "Songs of Youth and Discovery" is a five-part song cycle written by composer Jerrold Fisher and lyrics by Lawrence Leritz. The cycle had its beginnings with the "Dance Celebration" company which premiered in New York City at the Priory Theatre, with the number "Worth A Song" a standout. "Worth A Song" was later performed in Paris, with Lawrence Leritz, dancer, Elaine Bunse, soprano and New York City Opera's Bruce Norris, pianist.
