Jerome Pratt
Charles Jerome Pratt (March 3, 1926 – August 28, 1984) was an American politician. He served as a Democratic Party (United States), Democratic member for the 115th district of the Florida House of Representatives from 1967 to 1970. Pratt was born in Orlando, Florida. He attended Stetson University College of Law, where he earned a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1954. In 1967 he became the first member for the newly established 115th district of the Florida House of Representatives, serving until 1970. Pratt was also a prosecutor and judge in Palmetto, Florida. Pratt died in August 1984 at the L.W. Blake Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida, at the age of 58. He was buried in Manasota Memorial Park. Stetson is a brand of hat manufactured by the John B. Stetson Company. "Stetson" is also used as a generic trademark to refer to any campaign hat, in particular, in Scouting. John B. Stetson gained inspiration for his most famous hats when he headed west from his native New Jersey for health reasons. On his return east in 1865, he founded the John B. Palmetto, Florida
Palmetto is a city in Manatee County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was listed as 13,323. It is part of the Bradenton-Sarasota-Venice, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. History A post office called Palmetto has been in operation since 1868. Samuel Sparks Lamb is considered the "Father of Palmetto," having surveyed and plotted the city at its outset and donated several plots of land. He owned a general merchandise store in town. Samuel Sparks Lamb was from Clarke County, Mississippi, and arrived in the area near the Manatee River in 1868 establishing Palmetto. The city received its name from the Sabal, palmetto trees near the original town site. Palmetto was first incorporated in May 1893 as a village, with its first mayor being P.S. Harlee.
