Jeremy Baker
Sir Jeremy Russell Baker (born 9 February 1958) is a British judge of the High Court of Justice of Courts of England and Wales, England and Wales. He is correctly styled Mr Justice Jeremy Baker, conveniently distinguishing him from Andrew Baker. Career Baker was called to the bar at Middle Temple in 1979. He was appointed an Assistant Recorder (judge), Recorder in 1996. In 1999, he became a King's Counsel. He was appointed a Recorder in 2000 and a circuit judge in 2010. On 25 March 2013, he was appointed a High Court judge (England and Wales), Justice of the High Court, and was assigned to the King's Bench Division. He received the customary knighthood in the 2013 Special Honours. Notable cases *In May 2022, he jailed Imran Ahmad Khan for 18 months after he was convicted of sexual assault of a 15-year old boy. Manchester Arena Bombing
On 22 May 2017, an Islamist extremist suicide bomber detonated a shrapnel-laden homemade bomb as people were leaving the Manchester Arena following a concert by American pop singer Ariana Grande. Twenty-three people were killed, including the attacker, and 1,017 were injured, many of them children. Several hundred more suffered psychological trauma. The bomber was Salman Ramadan Abedi, a 22-year-old local man of Libyan ancestry. After initial suspicions of a terrorist network, police later said they believed Abedi had largely acted alone, but that others had been aware of his plans. The Islamic State claimed responsibility shortly after the attack. In March 2020, the bomber's brother, Hashem Abedi, was found guilty of 22 counts of murder and attempting to murder 1,017 others, and was sentenced to life in prison. Imran Ahmad Khan
Imran Nasir Ahmad Khan (born 6 September 1973) is a British former politician and convicted sex offender who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Wakefield from the 2019 general election until 2022. Elected as a Conservative, Ahmad Khan had the party whip withdrawn in June 2021; he was subsequently expelled from the party following his criminal conviction for child sexual assault in 2022. Born and educated in Wakefield in West Yorkshire, Ahmad Khan studied at the Pushkin Institute in Moscow and King's College London.
