Jeremiah Blanchard
Jérémie "Jeremiah" Blanchard (September 27, 1859 – March 17, 1939) was a farmer and political figure in Prince Edward Island. He represented 1st Prince in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1893 to 1897 as a Prince Edward Island Conservative Party, Conservative and from 1922 to 1931 as a Prince Edward Island Liberal Party, Liberal. He was born in Rustico, Prince Edward Island, the son of Sylvestre Blanchard and Virginie Doucette. He learned the trade of carpentry from his father. Blanchard was married twice: to Domitilde Gallant in 1880 and to Leonie Gomeau (née DesRoches) in 1921. He was an unsuccessful candidate for a seat in the provincial assembly in 1890 and in 1919. He served in the province's Executive Council as a minister without portfolio. His grandson Elmer Blanchard also served in the provincial assembly. Prince Edward Island (PEI; ) is one of the thirteen Provinces and territories of Canada, provinces and territories of Canada. 1st Prince was an electoral district in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, which elected two members to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1873 to 1993. The Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island (french: Assemblée législative de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard) is the sole chamber of the General Assembly of Prince Edward Island. The Progressive Conservative Party of Prince Edward Island is one of three major political parties on Prince Edward Island. The party and its rival, the Liberals, have alternated in power since responsible government was granted in 1851. The Prince Edward Island Liberal Party (officially the ''Prince Edward Island Liberal Association'') is a political party in the province of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The PEI Liberals are affiliated with the federal Liberal Party of Canada. History The party was created when PEI was a British colony by reformers who agitated for the system of responsible government. This was granted by the British crown to the colony in 1851. George Coles was its dominant figure in its first decades. Rustico, Prince Edward Island
North Rustico is a Canadian town located in Queens County, Prince Edward Island, Queens County, Prince Edward Island. Situated on the north shore, North Rustico an incorporated municipality in 1954. North Rustico changed its status to a town on November 16, 2013. The town is known to locals, as well as many others as "The Crick". Its population as of the 2021 Canadian Census, 2021 Census was 648 people. North Rustico is well known for its Canada Day celebration every year on July 1. The event usually attracts in excess of 10,000 people, which packs the town quite full. It includes festivities in the park, a parade down main street, as well as a boat parade on Rustico Harbour. Elmer Blanchard
J. Elmer Blanchard (March 6, 1927 – September 20, 1970) was a lawyer and political figure on Prince Edward Island. He represented 5th Queens in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1966 to 1970 as a Liberal. He was born in Charlottetown, the son of J. Henri Blanchard, who was the son of Jeremiah Blanchard, and Ursule Gallant. Blanchard was educated at Prince of Wales College and Saint Dunstan's University. He was called to the bar in 1953.
