Jens Knipphals
Jens Knipphals (born 19 May 1958) is a retired West German long jumper. He finished eighth at the 1978 European Indoor Championships and won the bronze medal at the 1983 European Indoor Championships. He became West German champion in 1979 and 1980, representing the sports club VfL Wolfsburg. His personal best jump was 8.14 metres, achieved in May 1980 in East Berlin. His son, Sven Knipphals Sven Knipphals (born 20 September 1985 in Hannover) is a German athlete specialising in the sprinting events. West Germany
West Germany is the colloquial term used to indicate the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG; german: Bundesrepublik Deutschland , BRD) between its formation on 23 May 1949 and the German reunification through the accession of East Germany on 3 October 1990. Long Jump
The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a group are referred to as the "horizontal jumps". Verein für Leibesübungen Wolfsburg e. V., commonly known as VfL Wolfsburg () or Wolfsburg, is a German professional sports club based in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. West or Occident is one of the four cardinal directions or points of the compass. It is the opposite direction from east and is the direction in which the Sun sets on the Earth.
