Jens Fiedler (born 15 February 1970) is a German triple Olympic champion and multiple world champion track cyclist. He retired from competitive cycling in early 2005. Dohna
Dohna is a town in the Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge district, Saxony, Germany. It is located south of Heidenau, in the Müglitz valley and lies at the northeastern foot of the Eastern Ore Mountains. It is accessed by the Pirna interchange of highway A17, and by the ''Dohna (Sachs)'' and ''Köttewitz'' stations of the Müglitz Valley Railway. History Dohna is one of the oldest towns in Saxony. Traces of settlement dating back to the 16th century BC (Bronze Age) have been found. The Dohna Castle on a strategic hill at the entrance to the Müglitz valley was probably already built in the middle of the 10th century. The town Dohna was first documented as ''Donin'' in 1040. The name comes from ''Property of Doň'' from the Bohemian first name Zdoň. 1999 UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The 1999 UCI Track Cycling World Championships were the World Championship for track cycling. They took place in Berlin, Germany from October 20 to October 24, 1999. Twelve events were contested, eight for the men and four for the women. France dominated most of the events, with Félicia Ballanger and Marion Clignet making a clean sweep of the women's championships by taking two golds each, France won over half of the gold medals on offer. Jan van Eijden (born 10 August 1976 in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Rhineland-Palatinate) is a German track cyclist born in Bad Neuenahr. He is a double World Champion in sprint and team sprint. He also won one world cup classic and four German national titles. He retired from active racing in 2006 and worked as a sprint coach for the Great Britain Cycling Team until November 2021. The team sprint (also sometimes known as the Olympic sprint) is a track cycling event. Despite its name, it is not a conventional cycling sprint event – it is a three-rider team time trial held over three laps of a velodrome. The current men's world record time is 41.225 seconds. Sprint (cycling)
The sprint or match sprint is a track cycling event involving between two and four riders, though it is usually run as a one-on-one match race between opponents who, unlike in the individual pursuit, start next to each other. Men's sprint has been an Olympic event at every games except 1904 (which had races at seven different distances) and 1912 (which had no track cycling events). Women's sprints have been contested at every Olympics since 1988. Racing style Depending on the size of the velodrome, this event can be from 250 m to 1000 m. Unlike the Sprint (running), sprints in athletics (sport), athletics, these events do not usually start with riders sprinting from the starting line and they are not confined to lanes.
