Jenny Thomann-Koller
Jenny Thomann-Koller (14 September 1866 - 5 February 1949) was a gynecologist, pediatrician, and Head of Internal Medicine at the ''Schweizerische Pflegerinnenschule mit Spital'' (Swiss Nursing School with Hospital) in Zurich. In her dissertation, ''Beitrag zur Erblichkeitsstatistik der Geisteskranken im Ct. Zürich. Vergleichung derselben mit der erblichen Belastung gesunder Menschen u. dergl.'' (Contribution to the Statistics of Heritability of Mentally Ill People in the Canton of Zurich. Comparing these with the Hereditary Burden among Healthy People), published in 1895, she introduced a control group which challenged the then-popular theory of degeneration and eugenics. Life Jenny Koller was born in Zurich (Switzerland) on September 14, 1866. Gynecologist
Gynaecology or gynecology (see spelling differences) is the area of medicine that involves the treatment of women's diseases, especially those of the reproductive organs. It is often paired with the field of obstetrics, forming the combined area of obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN). The term comes from Greek and means "the science of women". Its counterpart is andrology, which deals with medical issues specific to the male reproductive system. Etymology The word "gynaecology" comes from the oblique stem (γυναικ-) of the Greek word γυνή (''gyne)'' semantically attached to "woman", and ''-logia'', with the semantic attachment "study". The word gynaecology in Kurdish means "jinekolojî", separated word as "jin-ekolojî", so the Kurdish "jin" called like "gyn" and means in Kurdish "woman". Korbinian Brodmann
Korbinian Brodmann (17 November 1868 – 22 August 1918) was a German neurologist who became famous for mapping the cerebral cortex and defining 52 distinct regions, known as Brodmann areas, based on their cytoarchitectonic (histological) characteristics. Life and career Brodmann was born in Liggersdorf, Province of Hohenzollern. He studied medicine in Munich, Würzburg, Berlin, and Freiburg, where he received his medical diploma in 1895. Subsequently he studied at the Medical School in the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, and then worked in the University Clinic in Munich. He received a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Leipzig in 1898, with a thesis on chronic ependymal sclerosis. From 1900 to 1901, Brodmann also worked in the Psychiatric Clinic at the University of Jena, with Ludwig Binswanger, and in the Municipal Mental Asylum in Frankfurt. Anna Heer
Anna Heer (1863–1918) was a Swiss physician. She played a major role in the founding of Switzerland's first professional nursing school. She was one the founders of the first women’s hospital in Zurich. In 1897 she became the chief physician at the hospital. She was the head of the SUPFS since 1901 as well as the head of pflegerinnenschule of Zurich.
