Jenny Haddon (born 1933 in London, England) is a British writer of over 45 romance novels for Mills & Boon. who writes as Sophie Weston and Sophie Page. She is also a member of the Committee of the U.K.'s Romantic Novelists' AssociationR.N.A., and was elected its twenty-third Chair (2005–2007). Biography Haddon was born in 1933 at London, England. She studied English Language and Literature at university. She worked as consultant at the Bank of England. Haddon published romantic novels since under the pseudonym Sophie Weston. She is an active member of the Romantic Novelists' Association's Committee, and was elected its twenty-third Chair from 2005 to 2007. Haddon lives in her house with one cat and innumerous books.. Barbara McMahon (born July 1, 1945, in Virginia, US) is a popular American writer of over 65 romance novels published by Harlequin Enterprises Ltd since 1984. Biography Barbara "Babs" McMahon (née Nash) born on July 1, 1945, and grew up in northern Virginia. Later her family moved to California, where she transferred to the University of California, Berkeley, from which she graduated in 1967. She worked in the computer industry for years. Sara Craven
Anne Ashurst (née Bushell; October 1938 in Devon, England – 15 November 2017), who wrote using the pseudonym Sara Craven, was a British author of over 80 romance novels. Her novels were published by Mills & Boon from 1975. In 2010 she became chairman of the Southern Writers' Conference, and the next year was elected the 26th Chairman (2011–2013) of the Romantic Novelists' Association. Biography Anne "Annie" Bushell was born in October 1938 in Devon, England. She worked as journalist at the Paignton Observer, but after her marriage, she moved to the north of England, where she worked as teacher. After she returned to journalism, she joined the Middlesbrough Writers' Group, where she met other romance writer Mildred Grieveson (Anne Mather). She started to write romance. Catherine Spencer (born 1950) is a popular Canadian writer of over 40 romance novels in Harlequin Enterprises Ltd from 1986 to 2009. She also signed her books as Kathy Orr. Biography Catherine Spencer was born in 1950, and went to a Catholic school. She worked as a High School English teacher. She married and had four children and five dogs. When the menopause approached, Catherine began to write. She published her first novel in 1986. With friend and fellow writer Judith Bowen, she is a co-sponsor of the biennial Singletree Workshop, a weekend retreat for romance writers. Now, Spencer lives with her husband in White Rock, in south of Vancouver, British Columbia. Their four children are adults, and they have eight grandchildren. A romance novel or romantic novel generally refers to a type of genre fiction novel which places its primary focus on the relationship and romantic love between two people, and usually has an "emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending." Precursors include authors of literary fiction, such as Samuel Richardson, Jane Austen, and Charlotte Brontë.
