Jenner (mountain)
The Jenner is a mountain in Bavaria, Germany. It is part of the Göll massif within the Berchtesgaden Alps. Its summit, accessible from Schönau by cable car ('' Jennerbahn'') since 1953, offers panoramic views to the Watzmann range and the Königssee below. Several hiking trails lead to the neighbouring Hohes Brett and Schneibstein peaks, and into the Berchtesgaden National Park area in the south. Hoher Göll
The Hoher Göll is a mountain in the Berchtesgaden Alps. It is the highest peak of the Göll massif, which straddles the border between the German state of Bavaria and the Austrian state of Salzburg. Geography On the Bavarian west side of the Hoher Göll massif, the Königssee separates it from the Watzmann, another peak in the Berchtesgaden Alps. The Königssee drains northward into the Königsseer Ache, through the Bavarian towns of Obersalzberg to the north of the Hoher Göll and Berchtesgaden to the northwest, before merging into the Berchtesgadener Ache and then the Salzach river through Salzburg farther to the north. Schönau Am Königssee
Schönau am Königssee is a municipality in the district of Berchtesgadener Land in the German state of Bavaria. It is located at the northern end of the Königssee lake. Geography Schönau is surrounded by the Berchtesgaden Alps; it is the southeasternmost German municipality, bordering on the Austrian state of Salzburg at the Hoher Göll massif and the Steinernes Meer range. The present-day commune was formed in 1978 by the merger of the former Schönau and Königssee municipalities. Since 1984 the municipal area also comprises the formerly unincorporated Königssee lake, the famous St. Bartholomew's Church and the surrounding mountains from the east face of the Watzmann peak up to the Austrian border in the south, including the eastern part of Berchtesgaden National Park. Watzmann
The Watzmann ( bar, Watzmo) is a mountain in the Berchtesgaden Alps south of the village of Berchtesgaden. It is the third highest in Germany, and the highest located entirely on German territory. Three main peaks array on a N-S axis along a ridge on the mountain's taller western half: Hocheck (2,651 m), Mittelspitze (Middle Peak, 2,713 m) and Südspitze (South Peak, 2,712 m). The Watzmann massif also includes the 2,307 m Watzmannfrau (''Watzmann Wife'', also known as Kleiner Watzmann or ''Small Watzmann''), and the Watzmannkinder (''Watzmann Children''), five lower peaks in the recess between the main peaks and the Watzmannfrau. Königssee
The Königssee is a natural lake in the extreme southeast Berchtesgadener Land district of the German state of Bavaria, near the Austrian border. Most of the lake is within the Berchtesgaden National Park. Description Situated within the Berchtesgaden Alps in the municipality of Schönau am Königsee, just south of Berchtesgaden and the Austrian city of Salzburg, the Königssee is Germany's third deepest lake. Hohes Brett
The Hohes Brett is a mountain, above sea level according to the Normalhöhennull, German system or according to the Metres above the Adriatic, Austrian system, in the Göll massif of the Berchtesgaden Alps. The border between Germany (Bavaria) and Austria (Salzburg (state), Salzburg) runs across its peak. Schneibstein
The Schneibstein is a mountain, above sea level, in the Hagen Mountains range of the Berchtesgaden Alps. Located on the border between Germany (Bavaria) and Austria (Salzburg), it is popular with tourists and day-trippers due to its ease of access and panoramic views. Geography The Schneibstein is the northernmost peak of the Hagen Mountains, separated from the Hohes Brett in the neighboring Göll massif by the Bluntautal valley and the Torrener Joch. To the west lies the Königssee, the valley of the Salzach to the east. Ascent The Schneibstein is considered the easiest two-thousander of the Berchtesgaden Alps. Berchtesgaden National Park
Berchtesgaden National Park is in the south of Germany, on its border with Austria, in the municipalities of Ramsau bei Berchtesgaden and Schönau am Königsee, Berchtesgadener Land, Free State of Bavaria. The national park was established in 1978 to protect the landscapes of the Berchtesgaden Alps. Headquartered in the town of Berchtesgaden, the park was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1990.
