Jeneen Frei Njootli
Jeneen Frei Njootli is an interdisciplinary Vuntut Gwitchin artist known primarily for their work with sound and textiles, performance, fashion, workshops, and barbeques. Work Njootli is a co-creator of the ReMatriate Collective, a group working toward better representation of Indigenous women in the media. As one of the five finalist of the 2018 Sobey Art Award, Njoottli's work, ''wind sucked in through bared teeth'' (2017) is included in an eponymous exhibition featuring the finalists at the National Gallery of Canada. In 2016, Njootli completed the Media Arts Residency at the Western Front, an artist-run centre in Vancouver. Njootli has worked on several projects and presentations with artist Olivia Whetung. Whetung wrote ''Fugitive Dust'' to accompany Njootli’s solo exhibition ''I Can’t Make You Those Mitts Because There Is a Hole in My Heart and My Hands Hurt'' (2018). Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation
The Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation (VGFN) is a First Nation in the northern Yukon in Canada. Its main population centre is Old Crow. The language originally spoken by the people is Gwichʼin. Gwich'in Nation Vuntut Gwich'in refers specifically to the Gwich'in people who lived in Van Tat which translates as "people of the lakes." More recently, VGFN has incorporated the Vuntut Gwich'in and Dagoo Gwich'in (who traditionally lived further up the Porcupine River). The wider Gwich'in nation is spread across northwestern Canada and Alaska. Ted Harrison
Edward Hardy Harrison LL.D. (August 28, 1926 – January 16, 2015) was an English-Canadian artist who created many paintings of the Yukon. Early life and education Ted Harrison was born in Wingate, County Durham, England, in 1926. He started to paint at the West Hartlepool School of Art in England. Although interrupted by war, Harrison went on to complete his studies, being awarded a National Diploma in Design from the College in 1949. His subsequent earning of a teaching certificate from the University of Durham and a B.Ed from the University of Alberta, led to a teaching career that lasted almost three decades.
