Jellicoe (band)
Jellicoe were an English alternative rock band formed in Essex in 1996. The lineup included singer/guitarist Jay McAllister who went on to find future solo success under the name Beans On Toast. Drummer Dave Danger was later a founding member of UK indie band The Holloways. Biography School friends McAllister and Danger, along with bass player Jot Fuller, formed Jellicoe as teenagers in 1996 while attending Notley High School in Braintree. Named after historic seafarer Captain John Jellicoe, they recorded several early demos between 1997 and 1999 and began playing a series of chaotic gigs across Essex and London, including headline slots at the Harlow Square and the Bull and Gate in Kentish Town, where they were spotted by Fierce Panda Records. Their first release was the track "Arcade Superhero" on the Fierce Panda compilation '' Cutting Hedge'' in May 2000. Braintree, Essex
Braintree is a town and former civil parish in Essex, England. The principal settlement of Braintree District, it is located northeast of Chelmsford and west of Colchester. According to the 2011 Census, the town had a population of 41,634, while the urban area, which includes Great Notley, Rayne and High Garrett, had a population of 53,477. Braintree has grown contiguously with several surrounding settlements. Braintree proper lies on the River Brain and to the south of Stane Street, the Roman road from Braughing to Colchester, while Bocking lies on the River Blackwater and to the north of the road. The two are sometimes referred to together as Braintree and Bocking, and on 1 April 1934 they formed the civil parish of that name, which is now unparished. BBC Radio 1 is a British national radio station owned and operated by the BBC. It specialises in modern popular music and current chart hits throughout the day. Maida Vale Studios is a complex of seven BBC sound studios, of which five are in regular use, in Delaware Road, Maida Vale, west London. It has been used to record thousands of classical music, popular music and drama sessions for BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 6 Music from 1946 to the present. On 30 October 2009, BBC Radio 1 celebrated ''75 Years of Maida Vale'' by exclusively playing 75 tracks recorded at the studios over the years. Snow Patrol played a live set from the studio with Fearne Cotton to celebrate 75 years of live music from the venue. In June 2018, the BBC announced the closure of the studios. Ash (band)
Ash are a Northern Irish rock band formed in Downpatrick in 1992 by vocalist and guitarist Tim Wheeler, bassist Mark Hamilton and drummer Rick McMurray. As a three-piece, they released mini-album '' Trailer'' in 1994 and full-length album '' 1977'' in 1996. This 1996 release was named by ''NME'' as one of the 500 greatest albums of all time. After the success of their full debut the band recruited Charlotte Hatherley as a guitarist and vocalist, releasing their second record ''Nu-Clear Sounds'' in 1998.
