Jehu Reed House
The Jehu Reed House was a historic home located in Little Heaven, Kent County, Delaware. It was built in 1771 and expanded and remodeled in 1868. It was a three-story, five bay, brick dwelling, with a lower, three-bay rear wing containing the kitchen and servants' quarters. The main section had a hipped roof and a Victorian porch with decorative ironwork. Delaware Route 1 (DE 1) is the longest numbered state highway in the U.S. state of Delaware. The route runs from the Maryland state line in Fenwick Island, Sussex County, where the road continues south into that state as Maryland Route 528 (MD 528), north to an interchange with Interstate 95 (I-95) in Christiana, New Castle County, where the road continues north as part of DE 7. Between Fenwick Island and Dover Air Force Base in Dover, Kent County, DE 1 is a multilane divided highway with at-grade intersections and occasional interchanges. The route heads north through the Delaware Beaches resort area along the Atlantic Ocean before it runs northwest through rural areas, turning north at Milford to continue to Dover. Little Heaven is an unincorporated community in Kent County, Delaware, United States. Its elevation is and its position . It is north of Frederica at the interchange between Delaware Route 1 and Bowers Beach Road/Clapham Road. It originated in a group of cabins built by local farmer Jahu Reed in the 1870s for the Irish workers he employed in his orchards.
