Jeff Wood (footballer)
Jeffrey Reginald Wood (born 4 February 1954) is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is currently the head of coaching for Europa, and was also goalkeeping coach for the Wales U19 and Wales U21 teams. Career Playing After being released as a youth player by Colchester United, Wood started his professional career at Charlton Athletic, spending seven seasons at the club and winning promotion to the Second Division in the 1980–81 season, before moving back to Colchester for one season. He left without making an appearance, having been kept out of the team by Mike Walker, and moved to Finnish club HJK Helsinki in 1982. He spent two seasons there and then returned to England, signing for Fourth Division side Exeter City for the 1984–85 season. Gibraltar National Under-17 Football Team
The Gibraltar national under-17 football team is the youth football team of Gibraltar, run by the Gibraltar Football Association. The team is based mostly on the young players from the region's domestic leagues, the Gibraltar Premier Division and Gibraltar Second Division, and competes every year to qualify for the European Under-17 Football Championship. History The team played its first match on 24 October 2013 against the Republic of Ireland national under-17 football team, the year when Gibraltar became a member of UEFA. The 1997–98 season was the 118th season of competitive football in England. Overview Premier League Arsenal overhauled Manchester United's lead during the final weeks of the season to win the Premiership title. They added the FA Cup two weeks later to become only the second English club to repeat the double. All three newly promoted teams – Bolton Wanderers, Barnsley and Crystal Palace – were relegated after just one season in the Premiership. Everton endured their most difficult season for some 50 years. The 1996–97 season was the 117th season of competitive football in England. Promotion to and relegation from the Football League returned after a three-season absence, with one relegation spot in Division Three. Overview Premier League Manchester United won their second consecutive title, despite a spell in the autumn where they lost three games and conceded 13 goals. They won the title by seven points, as Newcastle, Arsenal and Liverpool fell away in the closing weeks. Nevertheless, their tally of 75 points is the lowest ever recorded by a Premier League winner. Football League Third Division
The Football League Third Division was the third tier of the English football league system in 1920–21 and again from 1958 until 1992. When the FA Premier League was formed, the division become the fourth tier level. In 2004, following the formation of the Football League Championship, the division was renamed Football League Two. Steve Gritt
Stephen John "Steve" Gritt (born 31 October 1957) is an English former football player, manager and scout. His playing career included spells at Charlton Athletic, AFC Bournemouth and Walsall. He was joint manager of Charlton for four years and, from 1996, manager of Brighton & Hove Albion. During a spell at Millwall, Gritt was briefly caretaker manager. After back office roles at Charlton and Bournemouth, he was assistant manager at Ebbsfleet United (2013-2018) and at Macclesfield Town, before joining Dagenham & Redbridge as assistant to Daryl McMahon in January 2020. Playing career Gritt spent most of his playing career with Charlton Athletic, after joining from home town club AFC Bournemouth in 1977. The Football League Fourth Division was the fourth-highest division in the English football league system from the 1958–59 season until the creation of the Premier League prior to the 1992–93 season. Mike Walker (Welsh Footballer)
Michael Stewart Gordon Walker (born 28 November 1945) is a Welsh former footballer and manager. After starting his career at Reading, Walker played as a goalkeeper in the Football League for five clubs, most notably Watford and Colchester United. He later managed Colchester, Norwich City, Everton and APOEL. In 2010, he was inducted into the Colchester United Football Club Hall of Fame. Walker represented Wales at under-23 level on four occasions. His son Ian, also a goalkeeper, later played for England's senior team. Playing career Colwyn Bay-born Walker started his playing career as a goalkeeper with Reading in January 1963. Wales National Under-21 Football Team
The Wales national under-21 football team, also known as the Wales U21s, is the national under-21 football team of Wales and is controlled by the Football Association of Wales. The team competes in the UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship, held every two years.
