Jeff Knox Jr.
Jeffrey Ali Knox Jr. (born February 22, 1992) is a professional Canadian football linebacker who is a free agent. He made his professional debut in 2015 with the Saskatchewan Roughriders after going undrafted in the 2014 NFL draft. He has also been a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Redskins, Tennessee Titans, Ottawa Redblacks, and Toronto Argonauts. Professional career Saskatchewan Roughriders (first stint) Knox signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League (CFL) on May 8, 2015. Knox made the Riders roster following the training camp in June 2015, and following an injury to the team's starting middle linebacker, Knox took over duties as the middle linebacker for the Roughriders. Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage).
