Jeff Genyk
Jeff Genyk ( ; born August 22, 1960) is an American football coach and former player. He most recently served as the special teams coordinator for Northwestern. Genyk served as the head football coach at Eastern Michigan University from 2004 to 2008, compiling a record of 16–42 in five seasons. He was a television analyst for Atlantic Coast Conference football for ESPN during the 2009 season. Early career Genyk was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and was raised in nearby Milan, Michigan. Jeff's father George Genyk played college football for the University of Michigan Wolverines, and served as a captain on the 1959 team. George was drafted by the New York Titans in the first tier of the 1960 American Football League draft. George Genyk
George William Genyk (June 6, 1938 – April 29, 2017) was an American football lineman and coach. Genyk played college football for the University of Michigan from 1957 to 1959 and was the captain of the 1959 Michigan Wolverines football team, 1959 Michigan team. He was drafted by the newly formed New York Titans (football), New York Titans (renamed the Jets in 1963) in the first tier 1960 American Football League Draft. He coached high school football in Michigan for more than 30 years. Early years Genyk was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from Pershing High School. Milan High School (Michigan)
Milan High School is the sole high school in Milan, Michigan. It is part of the Milan Area Schools. Established in the 19th century, the school has had three principal locations since 1900. The first was a new building constructed that year at 100 Hurd Street, one block north of Milan's downtown center. It originally housed all grades. 1960 American Football League Draft
The 1960 American Football League draft was held on November 23–24, 1959, in Minneapolis, shortly after the organization of the league, and lasted 33 rounds. An additional draft of 20 rounds was held by the AFL on December 2. Teams were required to fill the 11 squad positions by selecting four backs, two ends, two tackles, two guards, and a center with their first 11 picks. Before each position was selected, teams drew lots to determine the selection order. Though professional teams used dedicated offensive and defensive units, the league did not want to go 22 rounds before starting unrestricted drafting.
