Jeff Cacciatore
Jeff Cacciatore is a retired American soccer forward who played professionally in the North American Soccer League and the Major Indoor Soccer League. Cacciatore was elected into the Saint Louis Soccer Hall of Fame in 2013. Youth In 1976, Cacciatore, younger brother of Steve Cacciatore, graduated from St. Louis University High School. He attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, playing on the men's soccer team from 1976 to 1979. In his last season, the team won the 1979 NCAA Men's Division I Soccer Championship. On October 24, 2009, SIUE inducted Cacciatore into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. Professional In the fall of 1979, Cacciatore signed with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the North American Soccer League. He played two indoor and one outdoor season with the Strikers. Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. As with any attacking player, the role of the forward relies heavily on being able to create space for attack. Whitfield School
Whitfield School, founded in 1952, is a private, non-sectarian preparatory school with more than 400 students in grades 6–12. The campus is in Creve Coeur, Missouri, United States, a suburb of Saint Louis. History In 1952 John Barnes and Allen Cole purchased Dumford Academy, located on Bartmer Avenue, and renamed it Whitfield School. During spring break of 1957, Barnes and Cole and the school moved into a residential house in Creve Coeur, some of which had been converted into classrooms. The house became the nucleus of the current campus; it now serves as administrative offices as well as a meeting and congregating facility, and has come to be named the "Barnes and Cole Alumni House." The fourth head of school, Mary Leyhe Burke, raised money to build a new building on the land next to the house; this building was completed in the early 1990s. Soccer Bowl '80 was the championship final of the 1980 NASL season. The New York Cosmos took on the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. The match was played on September 21, 1980 at RFK Stadium in Washington, DC. The Cosmos won, 3–0, to claim their fourth league championship, and third in the past four seasons. Background New York Cosmos The New York Cosmos qualified for the playoffs by virtue of winning the Eastern Division of the National Conference with 213 points. The Cosmos defeated the Tulsa Roughnecks in a first round series, two games to none. The first game was played on August 29, 1980 in Tulsa before a crowd of 22,890. The Cosmos won the match, 3–1.
