Jeff Barnes
Jeff Barnes (born March 1, 1955) is a former American football linebacker. He was a member of the Los Angeles and Oakland Raiders from 1977 to 1987 of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at California and was drafted by the Raiders in the 5th round of the 1977 NFL draft. Early life Jeff Barnes grew up in Hayward and attended Hayward High School from 1969 to 1973. Barnes excelled on defense for the Farmers using his size at 6 feet 2 inches and 220 pounds to intimidate anyone who dared to carry the ball on his turf. A big time hitter who struck fear into the hearts of his opponents, Barnes made 1st All-HAAL and All-South County his junior year (1971) and senior year (1972). 1977 NFL Draft
The 1977 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held May 3–4, 1977, at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, New York. The league also held its first supplemental draft, which took place after the regular draft and before the regular season. This was the first draft in the common draft era (since 1967) to be 12 rounds, five rounds fewer than drafts of 1967–1976. The draft remained at 12 rounds through 1992 before being reduced to seven, where it has remained through 2022. John Madden
John Earl Madden (April 10, 1936 – December 28, 2021) was an American football coach and sports commentator in the National Football League (NFL). He served as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 1969 to 1978, who he led to eight playoff appearances, seven division titles, seven AFL / AFC Championship Game appearances, and the franchise's first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XI. Never having a losing season, Madden holds the highest winning percentage among NFL head coaches who coached 100 games.
