Jef Geys
Jef Geys (29 May 1934 – 12 February 2018) was a Belgian artist born in Leopoldsburg, Belgium. Geys is known for his photography, painting, sculpture, films, installation art, publishing activities, and experimentation in art education. Geys grew up in Faytlaan, Leopoldsburg and attended school at the Brothers of Love. He studied in the Academy of Antwerp under Piet Serneels, Maclot, Dolphyn and Strebelle, then gained a teaching diploma from the state school of Hasselt before starting work teaching in Woluwe-Saint-Lambert. In 1960, Geys was an appointed Teacher of Positive Aesthetics at a children's school in Balen until he left the position in 1989. The school focused on the educational experimentation in the arts, and included a studio and exhibition space, and arts laboratory. J.F.O. 'Jef' McAllister (born February 13, 1956) is an American journalist, author and lawyer. Formerly the London Bureau Chief of TIME Magazine, he is currently the Managing Partner of McAllister Olivarius, an international law firm headquartered in London. He is married to Ann Olivarius. McAllister graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Yale College in 1977 with a concentration in American diplomatic history. He then attended Linacre College at Oxford University as a Marshall Scholar, earning a D.Phil. in Modern History. While there he co-wrote ''The Right Hand of Power'', the memoirs of U. Jef Martens (), better known by his stage name Basto (stylized as Basto!), is a Belgian record producer, musician and DJ. He primarily produces electro house music, and he is signed to the ARS label. He has produced using various aliases such as Bitch Boys, Candyman, Dirty Bunch, DJ Basik, Felix Project, Jin Sonic, Kings of Porn, and Lazy Jay. He was also a member of the Belgian dance group Lasgo. Martens co-produced with the band in 2009 and 2010 on a number of singles. Jef Mallett
Jef Mallett (born 1962) is the creator and artist of the nationally syndicated comic strip ''Frazz''. He attended nursing school as well as EMT training before leaving to pursue his artistic interests. He has a longtime interest in bicycling and hanggliding and is an avid triathlete, having completed his first triathlon in 1981 (coming in 9th). He has twice completed the Ironman Triathlon. He is married to Patty and lives in Huntington Woods, Michigan, United States. Career While in high school, Mallett published his first comic strip for his local newspaper, the Big Rapids Pioneer. His first comic series was entitled "Birchbark", featuring a French-Canadian trapper. Jef Maes
Jef "Joseph" Maes (5 April 1905 in Antwerp – 30 June 1996 in Antwerp) was a Belgian composer and violist. Encouraged by his friend, André Cluytens, he completed his study at the Flemish conservatory in Antwerp. He studied viola with Napoleon Distelmans; chamber music with Albert van de Vijver; and counterpoint and fuge with Karel Candael. When he was 23 years old, he composed his first work, which was a romantic ''Meditation'' for violin and piano. After his studies, he was employed for two years as a violist in the opera orchestra in Antwerp; in 1926 he participated in an orchestra under the conductorship of Lodewijk de Vocht, ''Nieuwe Concerten''. In 1930 he was a soloist with the well-known ''Dierentuin'' concerts in Antwerp, directed by Flor Alpaerts. Afterwards he was a violist for about 10 years with the Casino Orchestra at Knokke Casino.
