Jef Andries
Jef Andries (18 January 1919 – 26 September 2006) was a Belgian footballer. He played for K.V. Mechelen, Mechelen from 1936 until 1955. Biography Andries grew up in the hamlet of Elzestraat in Sint-Katelijne-Waver. In the 1940s he became one of the star players of K.V. Mechelen, FC Malinois, where he played on the right wing. With this team he became national champion in the 1942–43 Belgian First Division, 1942–43, 1945–46 Belgian First Division, 1945–46 and 1947–48 Belgian First Division, 1947–48 seasons. He was also selected four times for the Belgium national football team, Red Devils, without playing a single international match. He died at the age of 87 in the hospital of Duffel. Sint-Katelijne-Waver
Sint-Katelijne-Waver (, old spelling: ''Kathelijne-Waver''; french: Wavre-Sainte-Catherine, ) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver and Sint-Katelijne-Waver proper. In 2021, Sint-Katelijne-Waver had a total population of 21,197. The total area is 36.12 km2. Roosendael, a ruined relic of a cistercian abbey is situated here and today hosts a youth and touristic centre with pleasant walkways. Economic activities Sint-Katelijne-Waver is a centre for market gardening and has many greenhouses. Duffel
Duffel () is a municipality in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises only the town of Duffel proper. On 1 January 2020, Duffel had a total population of 17,664. The total area is 22.71 km² which gives a population density of 778 inhabitants per km². The area is namegiver to a certain type of coarse woolen cloth manufactured in this area from the 11th century, mainly used to make blankets, outdoor (army) coats and tot bags. Duffel again became a household name during and after World War II, in the meaning of a certain coat, designed with toggle-and-tow fastening and large hood. Forwards (also known as attackers) are outfield positions in an association football team who play the furthest up the pitch and are therefore most responsible for scoring goals as well as assisting them. The Belgian Pro League,(officially the Jupiler Pro League due to sponsorship reasons with Jupiler), is the top league competition for association football clubs in Belgium. Contested by 18 clubs since the 2020–21 season and reduced to 16 teams from the 2023–24 season onwards, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Challenger Pro League. Seasons run from early August to late April, with teams playing 34 matches each in the regular season, and then entering Play-offs I (also known as the ''Championship Playoff'', ''title playoffs'' or ''Champions' play-offs'') or Play-offs II (also known as the ''Europa League playoff'' or ''Europe play-offs'') according to their position in the regular season.
