Jeanette Williams
Alice Jeanette Williams (June 11, 1914 – October 24, 2008), née Alice Jeanette Klemptner, was an American politician and human and women's rights activist from Seattle, Washington. She served on the Seattle City Council from 1969 to 1989. In 1962, she became the first woman to head the King County Democrats as well as any major political party in a large metropolitan area in the United States. Early years Born in Seattle, Washington to Russian immigrants, Dr. Louis and Olga Klemptner, she attended Mercer Grade School and Queen Anne High School. Originally named after woman suffragist Alice Paul, she went by her middle name Jeanette beginning in her youth. At the age of 16, she attended Cornish School and later received graduate degrees in Violin at the University of Washington and American Conservatory of Music. Cheryl Chow
Cheryl Chow (May 24, 1946 – March 29, 2013) was an American educator and politician. Early life Chow was born in Seattle, Washington on May 24, 1946. Chow's father was Edward Shui "Ping" Chow (November 5, 1916 - June 29, 2011), who received U.S. Citizenship after he was discharged from United States Army. Chow's mother was Ruby Chow, who served as a King County Councilwoman, the first Asian American elected to that council. Chow's maternal grandparents were Chinese immigrants who had come to the United States to work on the railroad lines. Chow's parents were also restaurant owners of the famous Ruby Chow's restaurant, where Bruce Lee once worked. Chow graduated from Franklin High School and then attended Western Washington University. Kubota Garden
Kubota Garden is a Japanese garden in the Rainier Beach neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. A public park since 1987, it was started in 1927 by Fujitaro Kubota, a Japanese emigrant. Today, it is maintained as a public park by the Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Kubota Garden Foundation. History Fujitaro Kubota emigrated from Shikoku, Japan in 1907 and established the Kubota Gardening Company in 1923. Projects of his included the garden at Seattle University and the Japanese garden at Bloedel Reserve in Bainbridge Island. In 1927, he bought of swampland in Rainier Beach with the help of a friend, as he was not able to make the purchase because of his Japanese descent. A woman is an adult female human. Prior to adulthood, a female human is referred to as a girl (a female child or adolescent).
