Jeanette Lawrence
Jeanette Carolyn Heintzen Lawrence (May 3, 1869 - July 6, 1960) was an American writer and lecturer. Biography Jeanette Carolyn Heintzen was born on May 3, 1869 in Sierra County, California, the daughter of Charles Heintzen, Jr and Sarah V. Busch. Her father was the first banker north of Sacramento in the 1850s. From both father and mother side she was descendant from California pioneers: Charles Heintzen, Sr. drove the stagecoach for Wells Fargo, sometimes hiding the gold from the North Yuba River mines in butter churns on their way to San Francisco, via Marysville; August Busch partnered with Herringlake in establishing the Wells Fargo building in Sierra City. She moved to Sacramento in 1910 and lived at 918 Mission Way, Sacramento, California. The National League of American Pen Women, Inc. (NLAPW) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) membership organization for women. History The first meeting of the League of American Pen Women was organized in 1897 by Marian Longfellow O'Donoghue, a writer for newspapers in Washington D.C. and Boston. Together with Margaret Sullivan Burke and Anna Sanborn Hamilton they established a "progressive press union" for the women writers of Washington." Seventeen women joined them at first, professional credentials were required for membership and the ladies determined that Pen Women should always be paid for their work. The General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), founded in 1890 during the Progressive Movement, is a federation of over 3,000 women's clubs in the United States which promote civic improvements through volunteer service. Shriners International, formally known as the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (AAONMS), is an American Masonic society established in 1870 and is headquartered in Tampa, Florida. The Order of the Eastern Star is a Freemasonry, Masonic List of fraternal auxiliaries and side degrees, appendant Masonic bodies, body open to both men and women. East Lawn Memorial Park
East Lawn Memorial Park is a cemetery in East Sacramento, California. It is owned by East Lawn Memorial Parks & Mortuaries, which also owns two other Sacramento area cemeteries. Founded in 1904, it is the resting place of several former Mayors of Sacramento as well as other public figures. History The cemetery was founded in October 1904, in response to the Edwards Break Flood of 1904. The first burials took place on December 24th of that year. During the early 1900s the park was administered by the East Lawn Cemetery Association. The cemetery has a two-story mausoleum that was completed in 1926, after several years of public opposition, led by a developer that had hoped to transition the memorial land into a residential zone.
