Jean Sabbagh
Jean Sabbagh (23 January 1917 – 1 October 2006) was a French rear admiral, contre-amiral and advisor to General Charles de Gaulle. Life Jean Charles Sabbagh was born in Paris, the elder son of artist Georges Hanna Sabbagh and art historian and French Resistance, resistance heroine Agnès Humbert. Jean Sabbagh became an Ensign (rank), ensign in the French navy in 1939, and in 1940 was on board the gunboat ''Ville-d'Ys'' when it was sent by the Vichy government to "protect" Saint Pierre and Miquelon from the British. He was a lieutenant later that year when the same boat was disarmed at Martinique. He became captain of a corvette in 1953, and was captain of a frigate in 1953. He was first commandant of the frigate ''Le Provençal'' from 1958 to 1960. Rear Admiral
Rear admiral is a senior naval flag officer rank, equivalent to a major general and air vice marshal and above that of a commodore and captain, but below that of a vice admiral. It is regarded as a two star "admiral" rank. It is often regarded as a two-star rank with a NATO code of OF-7. The term originated in the days of naval sailing squadrons and can trace its origins to the Royal Navy. Each naval squadron was assigned an admiral as its head, who commanded from the centre vessel and directed the squadron's activities. The admiral would in turn be assisted by a vice admiral, who commanded the lead ships that bore the brunt of a battle. Dame Jane Drew , (24 March 1911 – 27 July 1996) was an English modernist architect and town planner. She qualified at the Architectural Association School in London, and prior to World War II became one of the leading exponents of the Modern Movement in London. At the time Drew had her first office, with the idea of employing only female architects, architecture was a male dominated profession. She was active during and after World War II, designing social and public housing in England, West Africa, India and Iran. With her second husband, Maxwell Fry, she worked in West Africa designing schools and universities. She, Fry and Pierre Jeanneret, designed the housing at Chandigarh, the new capital of the Punjab. She designed buildings in Ghana, Nigeria, Iran and Sri Lanka, and she wrote books on what she had learnt about architecture there. Pierre Sabbagh
Pierre Sabbagh (18 July 1918 – 30 September 1994) was a major personality in French television, as a journalist, producer and director. Pierre Alain Sabbagh was born in Lannion (Côtes-d'Armor) and died in Paris. He was the younger son of the artist Georges Hanna Sabbagh and the art historian and resistance heroine Agnès Humbert. His brother was naval officer Jean Sabbagh. Television Pierre Sabbagh became a war correspondent in the hope of finding his mother Agnès in World War II. He had visited her in Fresnes Prison and the Prison de la Santé in 1942, a few days before she was deported by the Nazis, sentenced to slave labour in Germany. In 1944, he travelled into Germany behind the advancing American army, but did not find her until he returned to Paris in 1945. Pierre Sabbagh presented and directed the first television news in the world on 29 June 1949.
