Jean Mansour
Jean Mansour, SMSP (born on 27 July 1928 in Baalbek, Lebanon - died on 17 November 2006) was Bishop and administrator in the Melkite Patriarchate of Antioch. Life Jean Mansour was ordained to the priesthood on June 29, 1952 and became Chaplain of the Missionary Society of Saint Paul, a religious order of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church. On August 19, 1980 he received the appointment as auxiliary bishop and archbishop "pro hac vice" in Antioch with simultaneous appointment as Titular Archbishop of Apamea in Syria of Greek Melkites. The episcopal ordination was on October 19, 1980 by Patriarch of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church Maximos V Hakim. As co-consecrators assisted the Archbishops Nicolas Hajj, SDS of Banyas and Habib Bacha, SMSP of Beirut and Byblos. Baalbek
Baalbek (; ar, بَعْلَبَكّ, Baʿlabakk, Syriac-Aramaic: ܒܥܠܒܟ) is a city located east of the Litani River in Lebanon's Beqaa Valley, about northeast of Beirut. It is the capital of Baalbek-Hermel Governorate. In Greek and Roman times Baalbek was also known as Heliopolis (, Greek for "Sun City"). In 1998 Baalbek had a population of 82,608, mostly Shia Muslims, followed by Sunni Muslims and Christians. Elias Rahal
Elias Rahal, SMSP (born on 14 April 1942 in Ras Baalbek, Lebanon) is since 28 June 2004 the incumbent Archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Baalbek in Lebanon. Life Elias Rahal was ordained on June 28, 1970 by Melkite Paulist religious priests. Rahal studied at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome and get a PhD from the University Sargessa in Furn-El-Shebak (Lebanon) as Doctor of Canon law. At the Synod of Bishops of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church from 22 to 26 June 2004 Rahal was elected to succeed Cyril Salim Bustros as Archbishop of Baalbek. Salim Ghazal
Salim Gazal (July 7, 1931 – April 29, 2011) was a bishop in the Melkite Greek Catholic Church. He was the auxiliary bishop of the Patriarchate of Antioch from 2001 to 2005. Biography Gazal was born in Machgara, Lebanon. He was ordained a priest in the Arrouhbaniat Albassiliat Almoukhalissiat (Order of the Savior, also known as the Basilian Salvatorian Order) on June 22, 1958. In 1962 Father Ghazal was assigned to an area near Sidon, Lebanon. There he was involved in inter-religious cooperation as a religion teacher to both Christian and Muslim students. He arranged with the sheikh who was leading the Islam classes to learn and teach each other’s material. In 1990 Gazal and like-minded Muslims and Christians founded the Center for Dialogue and Development. Fares Maakaroun, (born 12 October 1940 in Rayak (Riyaq), Lebanon) was an archbishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Eparchy of Nossa Senhora do Paraíso em São Paulo in Brazil from 1999 to 2014, when presented his apostolic resignation. Career He attended the primary school of his native town and then moved on to secondary school in Harissa. After the school, Maakaroun went as a novice to the White Fathers in Gap (France). Archbishop Pierre (Boutros) Mouallem (born 10 May 1928) is the retired Melkite Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Akka, Melkite Greek Catholic Archbishop of Akko, Haifa and the Galilee, in Israel. Biography Mouallem was born in Eilabun, Galilee, in 1928 and received his education at the Minor and Major Seminaries of St. Paul Missionaries, Harissa, Lebanon, and was ordained a priest in 1955. From 1955 to 1975 he taught Arabic literature, French literature and humanities (Classical Greek and Latin) at the Seminary of St. Paul, Harissa, Lebanon. George Riashi
George Riashi (Qaa el Reem, near Zahlé, Lebanon on November 25, 1933 – October 28, 2012) was the Greek Melkite Catholic bishop of Melkite Greek Catholic Archeparchy of Tripoli and all North Lebanon. Life George Riashi was one of nine children of Khattar and Zahia Riashi. Until 1948 he attended the local school and then moved to the Saint John's Basilian Seminary. Until 1953, he remained in the Basilian seminary and made his temporal vows. His religious name was Athanasius, according to Athanasius of Alexandria. Riashi started his religious studies to become a priest in 1955 in the Basilian Chouerite Order's Mar Yohanna Seminary in Khenchara and later in Saint Joseph University in Beirut in the American University of Beirut.
