Jean Eichelberger Ivey
Jean Eichelberger Ivey (July 3, 1923 – May 2, 2010) was an American composer who produced an extensive and diverse catalog of solo, chamber, vocal, and orchestral works as an innovator and "respected electronic composer." Early Life and Education Born in 1923 to Joseph S. Eichelberger and Mary Elizabeth Pfeiffer, Jean B. Eichelberger Ivey attended high school at the Academy of Notre Dame in Washington, D.C. Though her childhood was impacted by the Great Depression and her father's loss of his job as editor of the anti-feminist serial ''The Woman Patriot'', Jean Eichelberger won a full-tuition scholarship at Trinity College in Washington, D.C. where she graduated magna cum laude with her bachelor's degree in 1944. Daniel Crozier is an American composer and academic. He is associate professor of Theory and Composition at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. Career Works by Crozier have received performances in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Boston, Toronto, Syracuse (New York), at Washington's Kennedy Center, the Aspen Music Festival, the Oregon Bach Festival Composers' Symposium, and by the Bach Festival Society of Winter Park, and have been recorded by MARK Records and Navona Records as well as for broadcast by the Belgian Radio and Television Network. Sanchez-Gutierrez grew up in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Guadalajara and later studied at the University of Guadalajara, the Peabody Institute, Peabody Conservatory of Music, Yale University, Princeton University, and the Tanglewood, Tanglewood Music Center with Henri Dutilleux, Jacob Druckman, and Martin Bresnick. Michael Alden Hedges (December 31, 1953 – December 2, 1997) was an American acoustic guitarist and songwriter. Early years The son of Thayne Alden Hedges and Ruth Evelyn Hedges Ipsen, Michael Hedges was born in Sacramento, California. His life in music began in Enid, Oklahoma, playing flute and guitar. He enrolled at Phillips University in Enid to study classical guitar and composition under E. J. Ulrich, who Hedges credited as his biggest influence from his academic training. Hedges studied as a composition major at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland where he applied his classical background to steel-string acoustic guitar, also studying electronic music. Hedges made a living by playing and singing in bars and restaurants in Baltimore while a student at Peabody.
