Jean Driant
Jean-Charles Driant (1922–1989) was a French-born character actor remembered for numerous supporting roles in British film and TV. Life He was born in Paris, France on 12 July 1922. He came to England in or before 1947. In the 1970s he was teaching French at Latymer Upper School. He died in Kensington in 1989. Glenfield Plantation (originally called Glencannon) is a one-level historic antebellum home in Natchez, Mississippi. Glenfield was built in two distinct architectural periods on a British land grant originally deeded to Henry LeFluer by King George III. The original 500 acres grew to a 2000-acre working cotton plantation through various ownerships, circa 1774-1812 and 1845–1850. Glenfield was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Mississippi in 1990. ''Return of the Saint'' is a British action-adventure television series that aired for one series in 1978 and 1979 in Britain on ITV, and was also broadcast on CBS in the United States. It was co-produced by ITC Entertainment and the Italian broadcaster RAI and ran for 24 episodes. Premise ''Return of the Saint'' is a revival/updating of ''The Saint'', a programme based upon the stories of Leslie Charteris that had originally aired from 1962 to 1969, and starred Roger Moore as Simon Templar (the character, in turn, had been introduced by Charteris in a series of novels and short stories dating back to 1928). The new series starred Ian Ogilvy as Templar, an independently wealthy, somewhat mysterious 'do-gooder' known as 'The Saint'. ''Wings'' is a drama series about the Royal Flying Corps that ran on BBC television from 1977 to 1978. It stars Tim Woodward as Alan Farmer, a young blacksmith turned fighter pilot in the First World War. Nicholas Jones played his teacher and mentor, Captain Triggers and Michael Cochrane played his upper-class friend, Charles Gaylion, who began a relationship with Farmer's girlfriend while Farmer was believed dead, shot down over France. The series reveals that the British pilots are struggling with aeroplanes which are unreliable and inferior to the German machines and with an Establishment that classes voicing an opinion to that effect as being tantamount to cowardice. The airmen must also face the resentment of British soldiers who see them having an "easy" life.
