Jean Dockx
Jean Baptiste Dockx (24 May 1941 – 15 January 2002) was a Belgian international footballer. He played for Mechelen, Racing White and Anderlecht, and for the Belgium national team in the 1970 FIFA World Cup and the 1972 UEFA European Football Championship. He was later a manager, and was caretaker manager of Anderlecht in 1999. On 15 January 2002, Dockx died unexpectedly at the age of 60 from a traumatic aortic rupture. Anderlecht paid a lot of attention to his death and praised him as one of the most valuable players the club had ever had. In 2005 he was nominated for the title ''De Grootste Belg'' (The Greatest Belgian), but did not make it to the final nomination list. He ended up in place 401 of those who fell outside the final nomination list. Sint-Katelijne-Waver
Sint-Katelijne-Waver (, old spelling: ''Kathelijne-Waver''; french: Wavre-Sainte-Catherine, ) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. The municipality comprises the towns of Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Waver and Sint-Katelijne-Waver proper. In 2021, Sint-Katelijne-Waver had a total population of 21,197. The total area is 36.12 km2. Roosendael, a ruined relic of a cistercian abbey is situated here and today hosts a youth and touristic centre with pleasant walkways. The 1975–76 European Cup Winners' Cup was the 16th season of the European Cup Winners' Cup, a club football tournament organised by UEFA for the winners of its member associations' domestic cup competitions. The final tournament of UEFA Euro 1972 was a single-elimination tournament involving the four teams that qualified from the quarter-finals. There were two rounds of matches: a semi-final stage leading to the final to decide the champions. UEFA Euro 1972
The 1972 UEFA European Football Championship final tournament was held in Belgium. This was the fourth UEFA European Championship, held every four years and endorsed by UEFA. The final tournament took place between 14 and 18 June 1972. Only four countries played in the final tournament, with the tournament consisting of the semi-finals, a third place play-off, and the final. The hosts were only announced after the qualifying round, which meant all teams had to participate in the qualification process for the final stage. Belgium was chosen among three candidates; the other bids came from England and Italy, whose teams did not reach the semi-finals. Belgian National Sports Merit Award
The Belgian National Sports Merit Award is an annual award handed out to a Belgian sportsperson or -team for exceptional merit. Players can only win the award once during their career, making this trophy one of the most prestigious in Belgian sports. The trophy is awarded by a jury consisting of (former) sports champions (e.g. Paul Van Himst and Ingrid Berghmans), influential sports people and sports journalists and is led by the mayor of Brussels. Trophy Jules Pappaert or Pappaert cup is a Belgian football trophy since 1953 and is awarded annually to a club in the first, second or third division of the Belgian Pro League with the longest uninterrupted series of unbeaten games. The award is given by La Dernière Heure / Les Sports and is named after the former footballer Jules Pappaert. During the 1930s, he was Royale Union Saint-Gilloise's captain. Tournoi De Paris
The Tournoi de Paris, also known as Trophée de Paris, was a pre-season association football invitational competition hosted by French club Paris Saint-Germain at their home ground Parc des Princes in Paris, France. The competition was founded in 1957 by former hosts Racing Paris to celebrate their 25th anniversary. Amsterdam Tournament
The Amsterdam Tournament ( nl, Amsterdam Toernooi) was a pre-season association football competition, held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The competition was hosted by Eredivisie club Ajax at the Amsterdam Arena. It was inaugurated in 1975 as the Amsterdam 700 Tournament to celebrate 700 years of history in the city. It was held annually each summer until 1992, when the last edition of the original tournament was played. It returned in 1999 with the backing of the International Event Partnership (IEP). Four teams participate in the competition, played in a league format since 1986. Since its return, the tournament has used an unusual point scoring system.
