Jean Bertaud
Jean Bertaud (9 September 1898 – 8 March 1987) was a French politician. Bertaud was born in Nîmes. He served as mayor of Saint-Mandé from 1944 to 1983, when he was replaced by Robert-André Vivien. Bertaud was a member of the France between 1948 and 1977. While affiliated with the Union for the New Republic, he held several senior positions within the senatorial UNR group. Saint-Mandé () is a high-end Communes of France, commune of the Val-de-Marne Departments of France, department in Île-de-France in the eastern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located from the Kilometre Zero, center of Paris. It is one of the smallest communes of the Île-de-France by land area, but is one of the most densely populated municipalities in Europe. The Senate (french: Sénat, ) is the upper house of the French Parliament, with the lower house being the National Assembly, the two houses constituting the legislature of France. The French Senate is made up of 348 senators (''sénateurs'' and ''sénatrices'') elected by part of the country's local councillors (in indirect elections), as well as by representatives of French citizens living abroad. The Union for the New Republic (french: L'Union pour la nouvelle République, UNR), was a French political party founded on 1 October 1958 that supported Prime Minister Charles de Gaulle in the 1958 elections.
