Hauts-de-Seine's 3rd Constituency
The 3rd constituency of the Hauts-de-Seine is a French legislative constituency in the Hauts-de-Seine ''département''. It is represented in the XVIth legislature by Philippe Juvin of LR. Description Hauts-de-Seine's 3rd constituency lies in the north of the department around Courbevoie situated 8.2 km to the west of central Paris. The seat is urban in character and is densely packed on the western side of the Seine on the opposite bank to Neuilly-sur-Seine. The constituency also includes part of La Défense the business district which serves the capital. The seat has elected conservative deputies without interruption since 1988, however between 1973 and 1986 and seat elected a deputy from the French Communist Party. Dombasle-sur-Meurthe (, literally ''Dombasle on Meurthe'') is a commune in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in north-eastern France, close to the city of Nancy. History Dombasle is one of the main production sites for sodium carbonate in the world, as Solvay created there in 1873 one of its oldest production plants. This sodium bicarbonate production plant is a key economic actor in Nancy region. The remains of the castle were destroyed in 1963. The Union for French Democracy (french: Union pour la démocratie française, UDF) was a centre to centre-right political party in France. It was founded in 1978 as an electoral alliance to support President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing in order to counterbalance the Gaullist preponderance over the political right in France. This name was chosen due to the title of Giscard d'Estaing's 1976 book, ''Démocratie française''. The party brought together Christian democrats, liberal-radicals, and non-Gaullist conservatives, and described itself as centrist.
