Jean-Pierre Lémonon
Jean-Pierre Lémonon (born in 1940) is a French priest, theologian and exegete. He is a specialist in the New Testament and in the history of the first century of the Church. He taught theology at the Catholic University of Lyon where he was dean of the faculty of theology. He took part in the series of programs by Gérard Mordillat and Jérôme Prieur on the birth of Christianity, Corpus Christi (1997-1998), then L'Origine du Christianisme (2003), which caused a great stir in France and Germany after their first broadcast on the Arte channel. Arte (; (), sometimes stylized in lowercase or uppercase in its logo) is a European public service channel dedicated to culture. It is made up of three separate companies: the Strasbourg-based European Economic Interest Grouping ARTE, plus two member companies acting as editorial and programme production centres, ARTE France in Paris (formerly known as La Sept) and ARTE Deutschland in Baden-Baden (a subsidiary of the two main public German TV networks ARD and ZDF). As an international joint venture (an EEIG), its programmes focus on audiences in both countries. Because of this, the channel has two audio tracks and two subtitle tracks, one each in French and German. 80% of Arte's programming is provided by its French and German subsidiaries, each making half of the programmes. ''Éditions du Cerf'' ( French: "Editions of the Deer") is a French publishing house specializing in religious books. It was founded in 1929, and operated by the Dominican Order. The name is a reference to Psalm 42 (41): As the hart panteth after the fountains of water; so my soul panteth after thee, O God. History Editions du Cerf was founded in 1929 at the request of Pope Pius XI, by Father Marie-Vincent Bernadot. Father Bernadot had already founded a journal, ''La Vie spirituelle'' ("The Spiritual Life"), with a goal to return Christian spirituality to its true sources of Holy Scripture, the Church Fathers and the great mystics. The 1st century was the century spanning AD 1 ( I) through AD 100 ( C) according to the Julian calendar.
