Jean-Marc Jacob
Jean-Marc Jacob (born 18 February 1947) was a member of the House of Commons of Canada from 1993 to 1997. He is a veterinarian by career. He was elected in the Charlesbourg electoral district under the Bloc Québécois party in the 1993 federal election, thus serving in the 35th Canadian Parliament. On 28 April 1997, Jacob lost his riding's party nomination in the riding to Richard Marceau for the 1997 federal election after which he left Canadian politics. Controversies Jacob faced accusations that he advised Quebec members of the Canadian Forces to join a Quebec army if there was a winning vote for Quebec sovereignty in the 1995 Quebec referendum. The prevailing Liberal government decided to investigate these remarks, while the Reform Party demanded Jacob be charged with sedition. Charlesbourg, Quebec
Charlesbourg is a borough of Quebec City, in the northeastern part of the city, west of the borough of Beauport. History The origins of Charlesbourg began with the concession of the seigniory of Notre-Dame-des-Anges in 1626. The seigniory extended from the Charles River northward, encompassing the modern boroughs of Limoilou and Charlesbourg. In 1665, the new Intendant of Justice, Jean Talon, set out to establish three new villages further north on the plateau. That caused friction with the Jesuits who were the seignors of the area. The first of the villages consisted of a 25-arpent square, in which a five-arpent square (the "trait carré") was reserved for the church, presbytery and cemetery. The homes of the settlers located on the periphery of the Trait Carré and their trapezoidal plots of land form a star shape. Royal Canadian Air Farce
The Royal Canadian Air Farce was a comedy troupe that was active from 1973 to 2019. It is best known for their various Canadian Broadcasting Corporation series, first on CBC Radio and later on CBC Television. Although their weekly radio series ended in 1997 and their television series ended in 2008, the troupe produced annual New Year's Eve specials on CBC Television until 2019. CBC announced that, due to budgetary constraints, the special scheduled to air on December 30, 2019 would be the final in the series.
