Jean-Denis Lejeune
Jean-Denis Lejeune (born 1959) is the father of Julie Lejeune, who was abducted along with Mélissa Russo in Belgium on 24 June 1995, and imprisoned in Marc Dutroux's cellar. She was eight years old at the time. She died, probably of starvation, sometime between 6 December 1995 and 20 March 1996. The bodies were found on 17 August 1996. Background In June 1996 Lejeune began work on the creation of a missing children helpline, which by 1998 was operational as Child Focus, the European Centre for Missing and Sexually Exploited Children. Lejeune was one of the leaders of a massive protest march (the "White March") of an estimated 300,000 people in Brussels, on 20 October 1996, in which demands were made for reforms of Belgium's police and justice system. Melchior H. M. J. F. C. Wathelet (born 6 March 1949) is a Belgian politician and member of the Humanist Democratic Centre who served as 4th Minister-President of Wallonia. Carine Russo
Carine Russo (née Collet; born 1 May 1962) is a Belgian politician, member of Ecolo, and author. She was elected as a member of the Belgian Senate in 2007. Her daughter, Mélissa, was one of six girls and women abducted by Marc Dutroux between 1995 and 1996. On 24 June 1995, 8-year-old Mélissa and her friend, Julie Lejeune, also 8 years old, were abducted from Grâce-Hollogne and imprisoned in a dungeon beneath Dutroux's house away in Marcinelle, Charleroi, where they eventually starved to death while Dutroux was serving time in prison for theft. On 17 August 1996, Dutroux led police to the location where the bodies of the girls, along with that of his accomplice Bernard Weinstein, whom he admitted killing, were buried in the backyard of another of his homes in Sars-la-Buissière. Marc Robert Wilmots (born 22 February 1969) is a Belgian professional football manager and former player who recently managed the Iran national team and is now active at Raja CA. During his club career as attacking midfielder, he won trophies with KV Mechelen, Standard Liège and Schalke 04. He also represented the Belgium national team. Marc Dutroux
Marc Paul Alain Dutroux (; born 6 November 1956) is a Belgian convicted serial killer, serial rapist, and child molester. Initially convicted for the abduction and rape of five young girls in 1989, Dutroux was released on parole after just three years' imprisonment. He was arrested again in 1996 on suspicion of having abducted, tortured, and sexually abused six girls aged between 8 and 19, four of whom were killed. His widely publicized trial ended with his conviction on all charges in 2004; he was subsequently sentenced to life imprisonment.
