Jazzbaltica
Jazz Baltica is a jazz festival which was started in 1990. Up until 2011 it was held every summer in Schloss Salzau (Salzau Palace) near Kiel, Germany, and the coast of the Baltic Sea. In 2009 the festival was directed by Bengt-Arne Wallin and in 2012, Swedish trombonist Nils Landgren took over as artistic director and it was moved to the Evers-Werft shipyard at the harbor of Niendorf, a Baltic Sea resort near Lübeck. The festival attracts jazz musicians from around the globe and is a noted event on the yearly jazz calendar. Artists who have played at the festival include: Wolfgang Dauner, Marcin Wasilewski (pianist), Kate McGarry, and Nils Landgren, It differs from most other festivals in its intimacy and the access that visitors have to the musicians. The festival has changed its focus to feature primarily musicians from Northern Germany, Scandinavia and the Baltic countries. Marcin Wasilewski (born 1975 in Slawno, Zachodniopomorskie) is a Polish pianist and composer. Wasilewski established a musical partnership with bassist Slawomir Kurkiewicz and drummer Michal Miskiewicz as the Simple Acoustic Trio in the early-1990s. Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival
The Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival is a classical music festival held each summer throughout the state of Schleswig-Holstein in Northern Germany. History The festival was founded in 1986 by German concert pianist Justus Frantz. In 2006, the 21st festival was from 15 July through 3 September with the Low German festival motto ''Dat klinkt lekker'' (That sounds yummy). The 22nd festival in 2007 focused on Hungary, 2008 on Russia, 2009 on Germany, when the motto was ''Heimspiel'' (''home game''). In 2010 the motto was ''Poland in Pulse'' featuring music from Poland. Northern Germany

Kate McGarry
Katherine Genevieve McGarry, known professionally as Kate McGarry, is a jazz vocalist. Career McGarry grew up in an Irish-American family with nine siblings in Hyannis, Massachusetts. She attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, graduating with a degree in jazz and Afro-American Music. After graduating, she became a member of the vocal group One O'Clock Jump. For ten years she lived in Los Angeles. She sang in clubs, did film and television work in Hollywood, and recorded her first album, ''Easy to Love'' (1992). In 1996, she moved to the Catskill Mountains in New York to study at an ashram. Three years later, she moved to New York City, returned to singing in clubs, and recorded her second album, ''Show Me''. Wolfgang Dauner
Wolfgang Dauner (; 30 December 1935 – 10 January 2020) was a German jazz pianist who co-founded the United Jazz + Rock Ensemble. He worked with Hans Koller, Albert Mangelsdorff, Volker Kriegel and Ack van Rooyen and composed for radio, television, and film. Education and career Dauner attended the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart, where he focused on composition, piano, and trumpet. In the 1960s he belonged to a sextet led by Joki Freund. As the leader of his trio, he recorded for the first time in 1964, an early session in the history of European free jazz. In 1969, he was leader and composer for Radio Jazz Group Stuttgart. Ostholstein
Ostholstein (; da, Østholsten) is a district in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is bounded by (from the southwest and clockwise) the districts of Stormarn, Segeberg and Plön, the Baltic Sea and the city of Lübeck. History The district was established in 1970 by merging the former districts of Eutin and Oldenburg in Holstein. These former districts have different histories. Nils Landgren (musician)
Nils Landgren (born 15 February 1956) is a Swedish R&B, funk, and jazz trombone player and singer. He is known as ''The Man with the Red Horn'' because he plays a red trombone. Career Landgren was born in Degerfors. Between 1972 and 1978 he studied classical trombone at the music college in Karlstad, Sweden, and continued his education at the university of Arvika. After meeting the Swedish folk-jazz pioneer Bengt-Arne Wallin and trombonist Eje Thelin, Landgren was persuaded to move from his strictly classical studies to improvisation and to begin developing his own sound and approach to music. After his graduation, Landgren moved to Stockholm to work as a professional trombone player. He was soon touring with Swedish pop star Björn Skifs.
