Jayme Campos
Jayme Veríssimo de Campos (born 13 September 1951) better known as Jayme Campos is a federal senator of Brazil representing his home state of Mato Grosso. He was previously governor of Mato Grosso from 1991 to 1994 and also served as mayor of Várzea Grande from 1997 to 2004. Personal life Campos' father Júlio Campos was also a senator and governor of Mato Grosso as well as mayor of Várzea Grande. Campos is married to Lucimar Campos, who in 2015 was elected mayor of Várzea Grande. Campos had four children, two daughters and two sons: Michelle Campos Soares, Jaime Veríssimo de Campos Júnior, Carlos Eduardo Sacre de Campos, and Gisele Sacre de Campos. His second oldest child, Jaime Jr., died in a car accident in May 2004 while driving home from his sister's wedding. Brazilian Senate
The Federal Senate ( pt, Senado Federal) is the upper house of the National Congress of Brazil. When created under the Imperial Constitution in 1824, it was based on the House of Lords of the British Parliament, but since the Proclamation of the Republic in 1889 and under the first republican Constitution the Federal Senate has resembled the United States Senate. The current president of the Federal Senate is Rodrigo Pacheco, a member of the Social Democratic Party from Minas Gerais. He was elected in February, 2021 for a two-year term. Selma Arruda
Selma Rosane Santos Arruda (born 20 January 1963) is a Brazilian politician and retired judge. Although born in Rio Grande do Sul, she has spent her political career representing Mato Grosso, having served as state senator in 2019. Judicial career Arruda is an alumnus of the Centro Universitário Ritter dos Reis. She served as a state judge in the state of Mato Grosso from 1995 to 2017. Arruda gained fame and notoriety as a judge for her anti-corruption campaign, earning her the nickname "the Moro of Mato Grosso" after Sérgio Moro, the head judge of Operation Car Wash. In 2015 she ordered the arrest of former governor Silval Barbosa on corruption charges. She retired from judicial office in March 2017 after serving as a judge for 22 years. Mato Grosso ( – lit. "Thick Bush") is one of the states of Brazil, the third largest by area, located in the Central-West region. The state has 1.66% of the Brazilian population and is responsible for 1.9% of the Brazilian GDP. Neighboring states (from west clockwise) are: Rondônia, Amazonas, Pará, Tocantins, Goiás and Mato Grosso do Sul. The state is roughly 82.2% of the size of its southwest neighbor, the nation of Bolivia.
