Jayhawk Collegiate League
The Jayhawk Collegiate League was a collegiate summer baseball league consisting of seven teams from Kansas and one team from Oklahoma. The league was formed in 1976 and was a "Premier League" within the National Baseball Congress. Teams The league includes the following teams: Derby Twins, Dodge City A's, El Dorado Broncos, Great Bend Bat Cats, Hays Larks, Haysville Aviators, Liberal Bee Jays, and the Mannsville Oklahomans ("Munsee") in Ardmore. The Dodge City A's returned to the league once again in 2011 after leaving in 1981. The Twins joined the league in 2005. The team previously played in the Walter Johnson League. The Broncos officially moved from Wichita to El Dorado for the 1996 season. The Broncos had previously been located in Hutchinson before moving to Wichita. Baseball
Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. Sooner State League (2010s)
The Sooner State League was a Class D level minor league baseball league that operated from 1947 through 1957. The league owners kept it alive in 1958, anticipating a return to play in 1959. However, when only Ardmore and Paris, Texas, were able to secure working agreements, the league folded on February 12, 1959. It was the last Class D league west of the Mississippi River. Heath Bell
Heath Justin Bell (born September 29, 1977) is an American former professional baseball relief pitcher. As a closer with the San Diego Padres from 2009 to 2011, Bell was a three-time All-Star and twice won the Rolaids Relief Man Award. He was also awarded the Delivery Man of the Year Award and ''The Sporting News'' Reliever of the Year Award. Bell played multiple sports, including baseball, in high school. He moved on to community college, where he was an All-American. He began his professional career with the New York Mets, making his major league debut in 2004, and spending three seasons at both the minor and major league levels. Hays is a city in and the county seat of Ellis County, Kansas, United States. The largest city in northwestern Kansas, it is the economic and cultural center of the region. Dodge is an American brand of automobiles and a division of Stellantis, based in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
