Jaya Mehta
Jaya Vallabhdas Mehta is a Gujarati poet, critic and translator from Gujarat, India. She was educated and later worked at SNDT Women's University. Life Jaya Mehta was born on 16 August 1932 at Koliyak village near Bhavnagar (now in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, India) to Lalitaben and Vallabhdas. She completed P. T. C. and started working as a school teacher. She continued her studies and completed her B. A. in 1954 and her M. A. in 1963 from SNDT Women's University, Mumbai. She later received her Ph.D. . She served as a professor of Gujarati at SNDT Women's University and retired from there. She was a co-editor of ''Sudha'' (weekly of Saurashtra Trust) and ''Vivechan'' (trimonthly of Department of Gujarati, SNDT Women's University). She wrote columns in ''Pravasi'', ''Mumbai Samachar'' and ''Samkalin'' dailies. Works Jaya Mehta writes rationalist poetry in free verse. The provinces of India, earlier presidencies of British India and still earlier, presidency towns, were the administrative divisions of British governance on the Indian subcontinent. S L Bhyrappa
Santeshivara Lingannaiah Bhyrappa (born 20 June 1931) is an Indian novelist, philosopher and screenwriter who writes in Kannada. His work is popular in the state of Karnataka and he is widely regarded as one of modern India's popular novelists. His novels are unique in terms of theme, structure, and characterization. He has been among the top-selling authors in the Kannada language and his books have been translated into Hindi and Marathi which have also been sellers. Bhyrappa's works do not fit into any specific genre of contemporary Kannada literature such as Navodaya, Navya, Bandaya, or Dalita, partly because of the range of topics he writes about. His major works have been at the center of several heated public debates and controversies. He was awarded the 20th Saraswati Samman in 2010.
