Jay Reatard
James Lee Lindsey Jr. (May 1, 1980 – January 13, 2010), known professionally as Jay Reatard, was an American musician from Memphis, Tennessee. He was signed to Matador Records. He released recordings as a solo artist and as a member of the Reatards and Lost Sounds. Biography Early life Lindsey was born in Lilbourn, Missouri, in 1980. He and his family moved to Memphis when he was 8 years old, since his father struggled to find employment in his hometown. His recording career began at age 15, when a homemade demo tape he sent to Goner Records caught the ear of former Oblivian and Goner Records' owner Eric Friedl. Lindsey heard Friedl and the Oblivians bandmates earlier that year when they returned home to Memphis as the opening act for Rocket from the Crypt. Lindsey became enamored of their sloppy, lo-fi music and set forth creating his own brand of heavily distorted garage rock. Bowery Ballroom
The Bowery Ballroom is a New York City live-music venue located at 6 Delancey Street in the neighborhood of Bowery in Manhattan. The Bowery Ballroom holds something of a cult status among musicians as well as audiences. ''Rolling Stone'' magazine has awarded it #1 Best Club in America. "It's both intimate and grand, with consistently great sound and sightlines, and touches of old-school class, like 84-year-old bronze rails." It has a capacity of 575 people. Garage rock (sometimes called garage punk or 60s punk) is a raw and energetic style of rock and roll that flourished in the mid-1960s, most notably in the United States and Canada, and has experienced a series of subsequent revivals. Blood Visions
''Blood Visions'' is the debut studio album by American punk rock singer and songwriter Jay Reatard, formerly of the Reatards. The track, "Oh It's Such a Shame" has been covered by Deerhunter (for the " Fluorescent Grey/Oh, It's Such a Shame" split single) and more recently by Arcade Fire during their support tour for ''The Suburbs''. Just prior to Jay Reatard's death in 2010, he sold the rights to the record to Fat Possum Records, after which In the Red Records ceased production and distribution of the record. The album was reissued on Record Store Day in 2016 as an exclusive 10th anniversary 12" on red vinyl, featuring a gatefold jacket and bonus 7" of Blood Visions demos. Reception Initial critical response to ''Watch Me Fall'' was positive. Jack Yarber (born March 15, 1967), also known by his stage name Jack Oblivian, is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist based in Memphis, Tennessee. He was a founding member of the garage bands The Compulsive Gamblers, and The Oblivians and currently fronts Jack O & the Tennessee Tearjerkers. King Louie Bankston
Louis Paul Bankston (1973 – February 13, 2022), better known as King Louie Bankston, was an American rock and roll musician from New Orleans. Associated early on with Garage punk (fusion genre), garage punk, he abandoned the genre in 1998 and focused on Louisiana swamp pop, boogie woogie, boogie rock, and power pop. He was best known for his work in the Royal Pendletons, The Persuaders, The Exploding Hearts, and The King Louie One Man Band. Bankston toured Europe and the United States, since the early 1990s. The Screamers
The Screamers were an American electropunk group founded in 1975. They were among the first wave of the L.A. punk rock scene. The Los Angeles Times applied the label "techno-punk" to the band in 1978. In the documentary '' Punk: Attitude'' (2005), vocalist Jello Biafra of the Dead Kennedys cites the Screamers as a key influence on their group and as one of the great unrecorded groups in rock history. The Screamers were noted for unusual instrumentation (a drummer and two keyboardists usually on ARP Odyssey synthesizer and Fender Rhodes electric piano). Alicja Trout is an American, Memphis-based rock guitarist, singer and songwriter. She is best known for her work with the synth-heavy Lost Sounds, which she started with Jay Reatard. Her current band, the River City Tanlines, were named an essential Memphis band by ''Spin Magazine'' in December 2007. Trout also owns and operates Contaminated Records, her own independent record label. She graduated from Memphis College with an MFA in 1997. In 2009, she was featured on the MTV show ''$5 Cover''.
