Jay Faatz
Jayson S. Faatz (October 24, 1860 – April 10, 1923) was an American Major League Baseball player born in Weedsport, New York, who played at first base for three teams during his four-season career. Career After his season, he returned to the minor leagues, which included one season with the Toledo Mud Hens in . In his last season, he was named player-manager for a short time with the Buffalo Bisons of the Players' League, the only season in the league's existence. After his baseball days were over, among Jay's post-career occupations included insurance salesman. First Baseman
A first baseman, abbreviated 1B, is the player on a baseball or softball team who fields the area nearest first base, the first of four bases a baserunner must touch in succession to score a run. The first baseman is responsible for the majority of plays made at that base. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the first baseman is assigned the number 3. Also called first sacker or cornerman, the first baseman is ideally a tall player who throws left-handed and possesses good flexibility and quick reflexes.
