Jay Bridger
Jay Bridger (born 23 September 1987, in Kent) is a British racing driver. Bridger began racing in karts at the age of 8, winning four karting championships before starting his professional career in British Formula Ford in 2006. He finished fifth in the championship in 2007 and finished sixth in the Duratec class at the Formula Ford Festival and 10th in the Walter Hayes Trophy. In 2008 he moved to the British Formula Three Championship and won the National Class. He moved to the main championship in 2009 and finished 15th in points. Formula Ford Festival
The Formula Ford Festival is an annual meeting of Ford-powered single-seat racing cars which is held at the end of the British racing season, at the Brands Hatch motor racing circuit in the county of Kent, in Southern England. The events are held over the course of a weekend and although various classes of past and present Formula Fords are present, the high point for many is the championship in which young but skilled drivers from Ford competitions in Europe and beyond race against one another. Often it is a rare chance to compare the skills of drivers who take part in different Ford competitions around the world. Walter Hayes Trophy
The Walter Hayes Trophy is a non-championship Formula Ford race. Sanctioned by the Historic Sports Car Club and created by James Beckett the race has grown into the most prestigious Formula Ford race worldwide. The race is held annually in November at the Silverstone Circuit. History Walter Hayes was a Ford Motor Company public relations executive. As a public relations executive Hayes was very much involved with racing. Hayes died on 26 December 2000, aged 76. The first Walter Hayes Trophy was held at Silverstone between 26 and 28 August 2001. Neil Fowler won the inaugural race in a classic Lola T200 beating 48 competitors. The 2001 race was the only Trophy held in August as part of the Silverstone Historic Festival. The race was sanctioned by the BRDC. As of 2002 the race is a stand-alone event hosted by the HSCC. Gavin Wills won the race in 2002. Formula Ford, also known as F1600 and Formula F, is an entry-level class of single seater, open-wheel formula racing. The various championships held across the world form an important step for many prospective Formula One drivers. Formula Ford has traditionally been regarded as the first major stepping stone into formula racing after karting. British Formula Ford Championship
The British Formula Ford Championship was an entry level single seater motor racing category, designed to give racing drivers their first step into car racing after karting. Drivers from around the world were attracted to the United Kingdom to compete in the series, and successful Formula One drivers such as Ayrton Senna and Jenson Button won their first single-seater titles in the championship. The championship was run to various Formula Ford regulations over the years, based on the engines provided for the championship by Ford Motor Company. These engine based regulations/specifications include the Ford Kent engine, Ford Zetec engine, Ford Duratec engine and in the final years the Ford EcoBoost engine.
