Jay Batzner
J. C. Batzner is a composer primarily of electronic music and is a currently on the faculty of Central Michigan University. Jay Batzner is also the programming director for Electronic Music Midwest He ran a daily podcast about miniatures He wrote the music for Carla Poindexter's ''Carnival Daring Do'' His 10-minute opera ''Secrets & Waffles'' debuted in Carnegie Hall with the Remarkable Theater Brigade's '' Opera Shorts'' in 2010. Batzner's work was also part of several 60x60 mixes including the Sanguine Mix, Order of Magnitude Mix, 2009 International Mix, Evolution Mix (part I), 2005 Midwest Mix. Central Michigan University
Central Michigan University (CMU) is a public research university in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. Established in 1892 as the Central Michigan Normal School and Business Institute, the private normal school became a state institution and renamed Central State Normal School in 1895 after the Michigan State Board of Education took over governance of the school. The institution came into its own as a university and gained its current name Central Michigan University in 1959 under the university's 6th president Judson W. Foust. Electronic Music Midwest
Electronic Music Midwest (EMM) is a festival of new electroacoustic music. History EMM is the result of a consortium formed between Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC), Lewis University, and the University of Missouri–Kansas City. This festival was founded by Mike McFerron, Connie Mayfield, and Paul Rudy in 2000 when it was presented at KCKCC under the name "Kansas City Electronic Music Festival." In 2001, the festival continued at Lewis University under the title, "Electronic Music at Lewis - 2001." Electronic Music Midwest became the official name at the 2002 festival held at Kansas City Kansas Community College. In celebration of EMM's 10th anniversary, Lewis University hosted the first EMM mini-Invitational festival on March 11, 2010. 15 composers were invited to present up to 15 minutes of music during this one-day, three concert festival. Vox Novus
Vox Novus is a New York City-based organization consisting of composers, musicians, and music enthusiasts which presents and supports new music. Vox Novus was founded by Robert Voisey to promote contemporary composers in 2000. This organization was created for the purposes of expanding the presence of contemporary music in the public's vision, empowering composers and contemporary musicians to create, produce, and promote their music. Vox Novus does this by the production of concerts, exposure on the Internet, and facilitating networking between professionals. Vox Novus promotes and produces contemporary music using repeatable methods and models that composers can take and use on their own. This way contemporary music can reach an ever wider audience thereby continuing the advancement of culture and art.
