Jay Allison
Jay Allison is an American independent public radio producer and broadcast journalist. His work has been featured on radio programs such as ''This American Life'', as well as National Public Radio's ''All Things Considered'', and ''Morning Edition''. Allison is the Executive Director of Atlantic Public Media, which produced and administers Transom.org and the Public Radio Exchange PRX, and is the "Curator" and co-producer, with Dan Gediman, of ''This I Believe''. He is also the "Curator" of the radio program, Heart of the Lan He was the 1996 recipient of the CPB's Edward R. Public Radio
Public broadcasting involves radio, television and other electronic media outlets whose primary mission is public service. ''This American Life'' (''TAL'') is an American monthly hour-long radio program produced in collaboration with Chicago Public Media and hosted by Ira Glass. It is broadcast on numerous public radio stations in the United States and internationally, and is also available as a free weekly podcast. ''Morning Edition'' is an American radio news program produced and distributed by NPR. It airs weekday mornings (Monday through Friday) and runs for two hours, and many stations repeat one or both hours. The show feeds live from 5:00 to 9:00 AM ET, with feeds and updates as required until noon. The show premiered on November 5, 1979; its weekend counterpart is ''Weekend Edition''. ''Morning Edition'' and ''All Things Considered'' are among the highest rated public radio shows. The show was hosted by Bob Edwards from its inception until it was retooled for a two-anchor format in 2004 with the introduction of Steve Inskeep and Renée Montagne. The Public Radio Exchange (PRX) is a non-profit web-based platform for digital distribution, review, and licensing of radio programs. The organization is the largest on-demand catalogue of public radio programs available for broadcast and internet use. History The PRX site and its services launched in September 2003 after a two-year planning, research, and development phase supported by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Ford Foundation. This I Believe
''This I Believe'' was originally a five-minute program, originally hosted by journalist Edward R. Murrow from 1951 to 1955 on CBS Radio Network. The show encouraged both famous and everyday people to write short essays about their own personal motivation in life and then read them on the air. ''This I Believe'' became a cultural phenomenon that stressed individual belief rather than religious dogma. Its popularity both developed and waned within the era of U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy and the Cold War. Since then, a variety of revivals have been hosted on different networks. A half-hour European version of ''This I Believe'' ran from 1956 to 1958 over Radio Luxembourg.
