Javarris Jamiel Williams (born April 8, 1986) is a former American football running back. He was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the seventh round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at Tennessee State University. He was also a member of the Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys, and Washington Redskins. Early years He played high school football at Foster High School in Richmond Texas. Professional career Kansas Chiefs Williams spent the 2009 preseason as a member of the Kansas City Chiefs before being released. Williams was promoted to the active roster on December 5, 2009 due to the season-ending knee injury suffered by Kolby Smith. He was released on September 4, 2010. 2009 NFL Draft
The 2009 NFL Draft was the seventy-fourth annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 25 and 26, 2009. The draft consisted of two rounds on the first day, starting at 4:00 pm EDT, and five rounds on the second day, starting at 10:00 am EDT. To compensate for the time change from the previous year and in an effort to help shorten the draft, teams were no longer on the clock for 15 minutes in the first round and 10 minutes in the second round. Each team now had 10 minutes to make their selection in the first round and seven minutes in the second round. Rounds three through seven were shortened to five minutes per team. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster. Kolby Kendrall Smith (born December 15, 1984) is a former American football running back and coach who is an offensive assistant for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft after he played college football at Louisville Cardinals football, Louisville.
