Jason Costello
Jason Costello (previously Jasmine Costello) is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Victoria Atkin. The character debuted on-screen during the episode airing on 2 August 2010 and was introduced by series producer Paul Marquess as a member of the yet to be established Costello family. Jason is a transgender boy, and the first character in the soap opera to experience gender dysphoria. Originally introduced as Jasmine, the character eventually reveals that he wishes to be known as Jason, and legally changes his name. Jason's storyline prominently explores the secrecy and trials of his romantic relationship with Bart McQueen (Jonny Clarke), a straight character who originally developed an attraction to Jason as Jasmine. Lucy Jane Allan (born 30 September 1978) is an English television producer, known for her work on the Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks''. Allan's other credited work include a script editor for ''Dream Team'' and assistant to director in '' Chica de Río''. Jonny Clarke, (born 6 June 1992) is an English actor. He is best known for playing the character of Bart McQueen in the channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks''. Career Jonny Clarke's early roles include two small roles on TV, including the award winning Drama "Seeing Red", and playing lead roles in theatre productions of Guys and Dolls and Oliver. Bart McQueen is a fictional character from the British Channel 4 soap opera ''Hollyoaks'', played by Jonny Clarke. He first appeared onscreen at his stepmother's funeral in August 2010, introduced by producer Paul Marquess as a member of the McQueen family. Gender dysphoria (GD) is the distress a person experiences due to a mismatch between their gender identitytheir personal sense of their own genderand their sex assigned at birth. The diagnostic label gender identity disorder (GID) was used until 2013 with the release of the diagnostic manual DSM-5.
