Jason Arakgi
Jason Arakgi (born May 12, 1985) is a former Canadian football Linebacker for the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played CIS football for the McMaster Marauders. Professional career Arakgi was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2008 CFL Draft by the BC Lions. He made the active roster in his rookie year and played in all 18 regular season games and made an immediate impact on special teams as he recorded 32 special teams tackles in his first year. He continued to play on special teams throughout his career while also serving as a backup linebacker. On August 19, 2016, in a game against the Calgary Stampeders, Arakgi became the CFL's all-time leader in special teams tackles with 185, passing Wade Miller. On June 17, 2017, he announced after playing in the team's final pre-season game that he was retiring from professional football. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). Wade Miller (Canadian Football)
Wade Miller (born June 10, 1973) is the current President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers and a former professional Canadian football player. Football career After four seasons with the Manitoba Bisons, Miller was drafted by the Blue Bombers in the fourth round (37th overall) in the 1995 CFL Draft. He played 11 seasons in the CFL, all with the Blue Bombers, appearing in 159 regular season games and eight playoff games. Drafted as a linebacker, Miller moved to fullback because of his small stature and was a fixture on the Blue Bombers special teams. He was twice named to the CFL East Division All-Star team (1997, 1999) and is third all-time in special teams tackles with 184, behind Mike Miller and Jason Arakgi. Nick Arakgi
Nick Arakgi (born August 9, 1955) is a former professional Canadian football star receiver in the Canadian Football League. In a nine-season career, Arakgi played for the Montreal Alouettes, Montreal Concordes, and Winnipeg Blue Bombers and made three All-Star teams. Early years Arakgi was born in Cairo, Egypt and graduated from Bishop's University in Sherbrooke, Quebec in 1978, where he played CIS football for the Bishop's Gaiters. In 1978, he was selected as the Gaiters' Most Valuable Player as well as receiving the Sid Hart Trophy as the top Male Athlete of the Year at Bishop's. He was inducted into the Bishop's University Wall of Distinction in 2004. Professional career He began a 7-year career with the Montreal Alouettes (and the Montreal Concordes) in 1979, playing a total of 110 regular season games and the 67th Grey Cup game.
