Jashwant Thaker
Jashwant Thaker (5 May 1915 – 25 December 1990) ( gu, જશવંત ઠાકર) was an Indian actor, playwright and director of Gujarati theatre. He directed and acted in several successful plays. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1968, the Ranjitram Suvarna Chandrak in 1977 and the Soviet Land Award in 1986. Biography Jashwant Thaker was born on 5 May 1915 in Mehlav in Kaira district to Dayashankar Thaker and Lalitabahen. His father's career as a city survey officer led him to take his primary education in Nadiad and Jamnagar. He completed his matriculation from Nadiad. Due to his interest in art, in 1928, he studied at music school in Jamnagar. At the age of fifteen, he joined the freedom struggle and established ''Abhedyamandal''. In 1932, Thaker joined the B.J. Anand District
Anand District is an administrative district of Gujarat state in western India and whose popular nickname is Charotar. It was carved out of the Kheda district in 1997. Anand is the administrative headquarters of the district. Gunvantrai Popatbhai Acharya (9 September 1900 – 25 November 1965) was a Gujarati language novelist and journalist from India. His experience with seafarers impacted his adventure and novel writings. His works include several historical fiction novels. Biography Acharya was born on 9 September 1900 in Jetalsar near Nawanagar (now Jamnagar, Gujarat, India). He completed his school education from Mandvi, Kutch where he came in contact with seafarers. His father Popatbhai was in police department. He joined college but dropped out after a brief period. He joined ''Saurashtramitra'' daily in 1927. He was also associated with several news dailies like ''Saurashtra'', ''Phulchhab'', ''Prajabandhu'' and ''Gujarat Samachar''.
