Jas Murphy
James Murphy (30 May 1923 – 1 December 2021), better known as Jas Murphy, was an Irish Gaelic footballer. He played at club level with Garda and at inter-county level with the Cork and Kerry senior football teams. He captained Kerry to the 1953 All-Ireland Championship. Career Murphy first played Gaelic football with the Kerins O'Rahilly's club in Tralee. He later lined out with the Garda club in Cork and was part of their 1950 County Championship-winning team. Murphy first appeared on the inter-county scene after declaring for the Cork senior football team. After two seasons with his adopted team, he subsequently joined the Kerry senior football team in 1949. Murphy won the first of two Munster Championship titles in 1950 and assumed the team captaincy for the 1953 All-Ireland final after Paudie Sheehy was dropped from the team. Mick Higgins
Mick Higgins (22 August 1922 – 28 January 2010) was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played at senior level for the Cavan county team, winning three All-Ireland medals during his career. In later years he was a successful coach. His first All-Ireland Senior Football medal came as a member of the team that won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final played at the Polo Grounds in New York City, United States in 1947. Cavan retained that title the following year and won it again in 1952 when Higgins was captain of the team. Higgins also won the Ulster Senior Football Championship with Cavan on seven occasions, as well as both the National Football League and Railway Cup on two occasions each. Higgins won the Cavan Senior Football Championship with Mountnugent GAA in 1946, he played with famous players such as Tony Tighe, Peter Donohue and Connie Kelly. Michael Murphy (1931 – 21 February 2009), known as Mícheál Ó Murchú, was an Irish Gaelic footballer who played for club sides Dingle, Geraldines and Kerins O'Rahilly's and at inter-county level with the Kerry senior football team. Career Born in Ventry, County Kerry, Murphy first came to prominence on the Coláiste Íosagáin team that won the Corn Uí Mhuirí title in 1949. After beginning his club career with Dingle, he later lined out with the Geraldines club in Dublin, before winning a County Championship title with Kerins O'Rahilly's in Tralee. Murphy earned a call-up to the Kerry senior football team in 1953 and was a substitute on the team that defeated Armagh in the 1953 All-Ireland final, however, he was one of a number of players who didn't receive a winners' medal. He subsequently became a regular member of the starting fifteen and was at full-forward for Kerry's defeat of Dublin in the 1955 All-Ireland final. Armagh GAA
The Armagh County Board ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae Ard Mhacha) or Armagh GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) in Ireland, and is responsible for the administration of Gaelic games in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Sam Maguire Cup
The Sam Maguire Cup ( ga, Chorn Sam Mhic Uidhir), often referred to as Sam or The Sam , is a trophy awarded annually by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) to the team that wins the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the main competition in the sport of Gaelic football. The Sam Maguire Cup was first presented to Kildare, winners of the 1928 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final. The original 1920s trophy was retired in the 1980s, with a new identical trophy awarded annually since 1988. The GAA organises the series of games, which are played during the summer months. The All-Ireland Football Final was traditionally played on the third or fourth Sunday in September at Croke Park in Dublin.
