Jared DeVries
Jared Jay DeVries (born June 11, 1976) is a former American football defensive end. He played college football for the University of Iowa, and earned All-American honors. He was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft, and played his entire professional career for the Lions. He is currently the head coach for the Clear Lake High School (Clear Lake, Iowa), Clear Lake High School football team. Early years DeVries was born in Aplington, Iowa. He attended Aplington–Parkersburg High School, where he was a ''Blue Chip Illustrated'' high school All-American and All-Midwest pick as a Twelfth grade, senior at defensive end in 1993, as well as a Class 1A all-state selection as a senior and Eleventh grade, junior. Defensive Tackle
A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield. If a defensive tackle reads a pass play, his primary responsibility is to pursue the quarterback, or simply knock the pass down at the line if it is within arm's reach. The Washington Huskies football team represents the University of Washington in college football. Washington competes in the NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) as a member of the Pac-12 Conference. The 1995 Sun Bowl was a college football bowl game played on December 29, 1995 at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. The game featured the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Washington Huskies. Iowa scored first, after running back Sedrick Shaw rushed for a 58-yard touchdown, and a 7–0 Iowa lead. Kicker Brion Hurley added a 49-yard field goal, to make it 10–0 after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, Iowa got a safety, increasing its lead to 12–0. Zach Bromert added a pair of 33 and 34-yard field goals, to push the lead to 18–0. In team sports, a most valuable player award, abbreviated 'MVP award', is an honor typically bestowed upon an individual (or individuals, in the instance of a tie) whose individual performance is the greatest in an entire league, for a particular competition, or on a specific team. The purpose of the award is recognize the contribution of the individual's efforts amongst a group effort, and to highlight the excellence, exemplariness, and/or outstandingness of a player's performance amidst the performance of their peers in question. In gridiron football, a sack occurs when the quarterback (or another offensive player acting as a passer) is tackled behind the line of scrimmage before throwing a forward pass, when the quarterback is tackled behind the line of scrimmage in the " pocket" and without clear intent, or when a passer runs out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage due to defensive pressure. Fullback (American Football)
A fullback (FB) is a position in the offensive backfield in gridiron football, and is one of the two running back positions along with the halfback. Fullbacks are typically larger than halfbacks and in most offensive schemes the fullback's duties are split among power running, pass catching, and blocking for both the quarterback and the other running back. Many great runners in the history of American football have been fullbacks, including Jim Brown, Marion Motley, Bronko Nagurski, Jim Taylor, Franco Harris, Larry Csonka, John Riggins, Christian Okoye, and Levi Jackson.
