Japanese Voyeurs
Japanese Voyeurs was a British band from London, England, formed in 2007 consisting of Romily Alice, Johnny Seymour, Tom Lamb, Rikki Waldron and Steve Wilson. The band's first release was ''Sicking and Creaming'', a 2009 EP. In 2010, they released the double A-side of "That Love Sound" and "Blush". In March 2011, they flew to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to record their debut album, ''Yolk'', with Garth Richardson. They released ''Yolk'' on 11 July 2011. In July 2011, they opened for Slash at a number of concerts. On 8 March 2012, the band split up, stating on their Facebook page that 'we simply can't afford to keep doing the band'. Grunge
Grunge (sometimes referred to as the Seattle sound) is an alternative rock genre and subculture that emerged during the in the American Pacific Northwest state of Washington, particularly in Seattle and nearby towns. Grunge fuses elements of punk rock and heavy metal, but without punk's structure and speed. The genre featured the distorted electric guitar sound used in both genres, although some bands performed with more emphasis on one or the other. Like these genres, grunge typically uses electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals. Grunge also incorporates influences from indie rock bands such as Sonic Youth. Sludge Metal
Sludge metal (also known as sludge or sludge doom) is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that originated through combining elements of doom metal and hardcore punk. It is typically harsh and abrasive, often featuring shouted vocals, heavily distorted instruments and sharply contrasting tempos. The Melvins from the US state of Washington produced the first sludge metal albums in the mid-late 1980s. Characteristics The key characteristics of both sludge and doom metal are a slow tempo combined with down-tuned, heavily- distorted guitars to deliver the heaviest feel that is possible. The drummer must be able to lead the band through the slow parts of a piece with an accurate time feel, which is much harder to achieve when compared with playing faster pieces. Dinosaur Pile-Up are an English alternative rock band formed in late 2007. Hailing from Leeds, West Yorkshire. Current members are lead vocalist, lead singer and electric guitar, guitarist Matt Bigland, drum kit, drummer Mike Sheils and bass guitar, bassist Jim Cratchley. Their past members include Steve Wilson (2008-2010), Tom Dornford-May (2008-2010), Tommy Davidson (2008), Harry Johns (2010-2011), and James Sacha (2013). History Formation and name Dinosaur Pile-Up formed after guitarist Bigland's band Mother Vulpine dissolved in 2007. Hawk Eyes
Hawk Eyes are a rock band from Leeds, England. They formed in late 2004 and released their official debut album '' Modern Bodies'' on 1 November 2010 through Brew Records. History Early years (2004–2010) The band played a part in the Leeds underground DIY metal and hardcore scene, amongst the local squats and dives. Some small CD splits and self-released CD-r's appeared during this time, all recorded with Ross Halden in his home basement studio ''Ghost Town Studios''. Following years of house shows, small releases and self-organised tours, ''Brew Records'' picked up on the band and included them on their first release in 2007, a compilation entitled ''Volume 1'' featuring other local bands part of the same DIY scene. Garth Richardson
Garth "GGGarth" Richardson is a Canadian record producer and music engineer. He is the son of music producer Jack Richardson (Alice Cooper, The Guess Who, Badfinger, Poco), a pioneer of the music recording industry in the 1960s and 1970s. Garth Richardson has done music engineering work for the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nickelback, and Mötley Crüe, and produced for Kittie, Biffy Clyro, Rage Against the Machine, Mudvayne, Melvins, Shihad, Kensington, and many others. He cofounded the Nimbus School of Recording Arts in Vancouver, British Columbia together with Bob Ezrin and Kevin Williams. Saul Hudson (born July 23, 1965), better known as Slash, is a British-American musician who is best known as the lead guitarist of the American hard rock band Guns N' Roses, with whom he achieved worldwide success in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Slash has received critical acclaim and is considered one of the greatest guitarists in history. Born in Hampstead, London, Slash moved to Los Angeles with his father when he was five years old.
