Japan War-Bereaved Families Association
The is an association in Japan that was set up to represent the interests of relatives of deceased war veterans in the Second World War. Its headquarters are in Kudanminami, Tokyo. The group supports visits to Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo to pay respects to Japan's war dead. The Japanese War-Bereaved Families Association has extremely close ties with Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party. The Japanese War-Bereaved Families Association was originally called the Japan Bereaved Family-Welfare Federation and founded in 1947. The organization gained traction through its grassroots efforts gathering the remains of Japanese soldiers throughout Japan throughout the 1970s. As the JWBFA organized and carried out these efforts, it gained the support of the Japanese public, which in turn gave it greater influence. Kudanminami
is a district of Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan, consisting of 1-chōme to 4-chōme. As of March 1, 2007, its population is 2,431. Kudanminami is located on the northwestern part of the Chiyoda ward. The Nihonbashi River and Yasukuni-dōri Ave form its eastern and northern boundaries, respectively. It borders Kanda-Jinbōchō to the east, Gobanchō to the west, Sanbanchō, Hitotsubashi and Yonbanchō to the south, and Kudankita to the north. In addition, it borders Kitanomaru Kōen between its 1-chōme and 2-chōme. The zone is a prestigious business and residential zone. Yasukuni Shrine
is a Shinto shrine located in Chiyoda, Tokyo. It was founded by Emperor Meiji in June 1869 and commemorates those who died in service of Empire of Japan, Japan, from the Boshin War of 1868–1869, to the two Sino-Japanese Wars, First Sino-Japanese War, 1894–1895 and Second Sino-Japanese War, 1937–1945 respectively, and the First Indochina War#Japanese volunteers, First Indochina War of 1946–1954, including Japanese war crimes, war criminals. The shrine's purpose has been expanded over the years to include those who died in the List of wars involving Japan, wars involving Japan spanning from the entire Meiji period, Meiji and Taishō periods, and the earlier part of the Shōwa period. Emperor Shōwa
Emperor , commonly known in English-speaking countries by his personal name , was the 124th emperor of Japan, ruling from 25 December 1926 until his death in 1989.
